The Senior Legal Counsel - Privacy position will fill a critical legal need for the company by providing strategic legal counsel to internal business partners with respect to Federal and state healthcare and privacy regulations and laws. You will proactively advise business partners on a wide variety of legal matters related to data licensing, clinical trial services and real world evidence, pharmacy services, data analytics, health insights, and other health services solutions. In this role, you will identify business and legal risks and work with the business to provide solutions which balance legal compliance and business objectives.The ideal candidate will have privacy expertise as well as the ability to develop an understanding of the business and operational goals of assigned internal clients, proactively advise business partners on a wide range of matters and work collaboratively with other attorneys/partners on matters related to legal and regulatory compliance. The Senior Legal Counsel - Privacy position will work closely with our businesses responsible for our data strategy and the development of our Payor and Life Sciences Solutions segment.Major Responsibilities

- Work with internal clients to evaluate and assess business opportunities for compliance with the law, contractual obligations, and internal policies and procedures. Provide guidance on how to balance compliance with the business's objectives.
- Draft, review, and negotiate documents and agreements.
- Monitor healthcare and privacy law development, identify rules applicable to our businesses, and support the operationalization of privacy program updates to address compliance obligations
- Support ad hoc projects.
- A minimum of 7+ years of legal experience with a law firm, healthcare or retail company focused on issues related to privacy, data protection, clinical research, or related regulatory matters (e.g., HIPAA, CCPA or GDPR).
- Ability to synthesize and apply multiple regulatory frameworks to business activities.
- Experience drafting and negotiating complex healthcare data agreements.
- Analytical skills and strong legal project management and facilitation skills.
- Ability to work both independently and collaboratively, provide leadership, influence organization behavior and create alignment across disparate groups
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Admitted to practice law in good standing in at least one state.
- Experience advising on payor, plan, or provider activities.
- Firm or In-house experience.

The typical pay range for this role is:$175,100.00 - $334,750.00
This pay range represents the base hourly rate or base annual full-time salary for all positions in the job grade within which this position falls. The actual base salary offer will depend on a variety of factors including experience, education, geography and other relevant factors. This position is eligible for a CVS Health bonus, commission or short-term incentive program in addition to the base pay range listed above.
