DESCRIPTION

Utilize advanced knowledge of engineering principles and practices to lead the overall technical coordination of complex Mechatronics systems product development activities applied to brake and/or axle systems within Commercial Truck and Trailer vehicles; and be accountable for the project management of technical risk and quality of the product up to and including early production. Integrate the requirements of interdisciplinary and cross-functional stakeholders of product development. Review customer requirements and engineering specifications, and related information to assess and plan product to be developed. Utilize CAD software including CREO or Solid Works to prepare designs for various manufacturing processes. Integrate all of the market and key customer needs of a given product platform into a comprehensive and holistic development plan. Make decisions regarding design and project risk trade-offs that impact program cost and delivery without sacrifice of quality expectations. Lead the development of designs using knowledge of system requirement engineering to translate stakeholder needs into verifiable requirements and establish acceptance criteria for the system of interest through analysis, allocation and negotiation. Apply knowledge of Mechatronics Systems for the ideation, conceptualization and development of innovative electro-pneumatic and electromechanical products in the area of Drivetrain, Braking and Steering Systems, leading the technical project leadership including definition of system requirements for software development and operational strategy. Lead the design and optimization of specialized pneumatic valves, ensuring efficiency, durability, and compliance with industry standards. Use knowledge of Automotive SPICE (A-SPICE) processes for ensuring software development quality and compliance in automotive systems. Develop and implement test benches for electro-pneumatic systems, including hardware setup, instrumentation, data acquisition, and automated testing protocols to validate system performance under various conditions established in the Design Validation Plan. Obtain input and negotiate with program leadership, product engineers and technology teams to deliver robust prototype and production designs, technical risk mitigation plans, and coordinated deliverables of new or current product change activity. Utilize engineering methods and tools including iDFMEA, project risk 9-box, Product Development Six Sigma (PDSS) and voice of customer to work extensively in the business processes of Product Preceding Technology (PPT) and Current Product Support (CPS) to promote high quality decision making. Apply knowledge of Functional Safety ISO26262 to meet requirements for safe systems. Coordinate the development of design verification and system validation plans to identify failure modes while managing risk and relative priority. Solve highly complex product problems using the 7-Step Product Problem Solving Process to determine the assignable cause and recommend actions to prevent problem reoccurrence. Update DFMEA documentation. Utilize experience with software for modeling and simulating multi-domain systems, and pneumatic applications including AmeSim.

Positions require a Master's degree in Industrial, Mechatronics, Mechanical or Systems Engineering, or related field and 4 years of experience as a Project, Industrial or Manufacturing Engineer, Business Analyst or related position. Alternatively, the employer will accept a Bachelor's degree in Industrial, Mechatronics, Mechanical or Systems Engineering, or related field and 6 years of experience a Project, Industrial or Manufacturing Engineer, Business Analyst or related position. Experience to include: Design, development and integration of mechatronic systems applied to brake and/or axle systems within Commercial Truck and Trailer vehicles; CAD software including CREO or Solid Works; Product platform development; System requirement engineering; Electro-pneumatic Systems and Mechatronics Systems for software development and operational strategy; Automotive SPICE (A-SPICE) processes; Deliver robust prototype and production designs, technical risk mitigation plans; iDFMEA, project risk 9-box, Product Development Six Sigma (PDSS) and voice of customer; Functional Safety ISO26262; Development of design verification and system validation plans; 7-Step Product Problem Solving Process to determine the assignable cause and identify the systemic root causes; Experience with software for modeling and simulating multi-domain systems, and pneumatic applications including AmeSim.
