Systems Engineering Product Specialists #IN1212

Yesterday Columbus, IN

DESCRIPTION

Apply knowledge of environmental science and environmental engineering to foster understanding of environmental regulations and sustainability targets. Act as central point of coordination and decision making between product engineers, product line engineers, customer teams, purchasing, suppliers, and manufacturing. Utilize System Requirements Engineering methods and tools to translate stakeholder needs into verifiable requirements to which designs are developed. Develop product systems validation plans from a variety of inputs to identify failure modes, while managing product risk and relative priority. Perform established technical tasks at the product and cross-business integration level for current and future products. Link maintenance activities to the company's Planet 2050 goals. Track the oil usage reductions resulting from increased maintenance intervals from virtual and physical maintenance monitors on the engine systems. Calculate environmental data including greenhouse gas (GHG) reductions from the reduced oil usage and improve fuel economy through improved maintenance practices regarding aftertreatment regeneration. Conduct oil sampling programs for customers to improve their maintenance intervals. Correlate maintenance capability, such as oil drain intervals, to customer engine performance and apply that data to develop electronic monitors that aid in further extending maintenance intervals for more customers based on duty cycle information. Obtain input from stakeholders such as technical managers, project leaders, other product and manufacturing engineers and supplier partners to deliver information and recommendations that lead to quality product decisions. Apply and improve processes such as ESW, iDFMEA, FIRG and tools such as 7-step problem solving, design review checklist, and other specialized tools required to enable high quality decision making. Mitigate potential product failure modes by identifying interfaces, functions, functional requirements, interactions, control factors, noise factors, and prioritizing potential failure modes and potential failure causes for the system of interest to effectively and efficiently improve the reliability of company products as a part of Product Failure Mode Avoidance. Impact product design decisions through the utilization of product functional modeling, simulation, and analysis tools and methods that predict the capability of a product's function relative to its system, sub-system or component level requirements. Negotiate product requirements against capability to guide project scope and evaluate analytical, simulation and physical test results to verify product capability and validate requirements. Establish acceptance criteria for the system of interest through analysis, allocation, and negotiation, and track the status of requirements throughout the system lifecycle. Solve product problems using a process that protects the customer, determine assignable cause, implement data-based solutions, and identify systemic root causes. Compile information for the annual corporate environmental improvement reports.
