DESCRIPTION
We are looking for a talented Packaging Technician, specialising in Logistics, for the Packaging Department based in Darlington, United Kingdom.
This is permanent on-site position, working 37.5 hours per week, Monday to Friday.
In this role, you will make an impact in the following ways:
- Cost and Waste Reduction: Lead initiatives to reduce packaging costs and minimise waste, supporting sustainability goals.
- Ergonomic Enhancements: Improve packaging processes to ensure safer and more efficient handling for employees.
- Material Management: Oversee ordering and inventory of packaging materials to maintain optimal stock levels.
- Returnable Packaging Solutions: Develop and implement reusable packaging systems to cut costs and environmental impact.
- Data-Driven Decisions: Analyse packaging data to identify trends and optimise operational efficiency.
- Supplier Collaboration: Partner with suppliers to design and qualify innovative, sustainable packaging solutions.
- Cross-Functional Leadership: Drive packaging improvements across departments, including HSE, Quality, and Manufacturing.
- Mentorship and Team Development: Support and guide Packaging Technicians to foster a collaborative team culture.

RESPONSIBILITIES
To be successful in this role, you will need the following:
- Experience in packaging or materials, strong computer skills, and experience with material flow or supply chain operations.
- Strategic Collaboration: Build strong partnerships across teams and with suppliers to achieve shared objectives.
- Effective Communication & Decision-Making: Deliver clear messaging and make timely, high-quality decisions.
- Customer-Centric Focus: Understand and meet internal and external customer needs through tailored packaging solutions.
- Sustainability & Operational Expertise: Apply knowledge of sustainable packaging and manufacturing integration.
QUALIFICATIONS
Education/Experience:
- High school diploma required, a two-year university degree in Business, Engineering, or related field preferred.
- Significant relevant experience or specialised skills in packaging, logistics, or manufacturing operations.
- Proficiency in Microsoft applications and advanced computer skills for reporting and analysis.
