We are looking for a talented Mechanical Maintenance - Level III (2nd shift) to join our team specializing in Manufacturing for our Cummins Inc. facility in Jamestown, NY.
In this role, you will make an impact in the following ways:
- Increase equipment availability by troubleshooting, repairing, assembling, installing, and maintaining mechanical systems so production equipment stays capable and ready when the operation needs it.
- Strengthen workplace safety by stopping unsafe work, reporting hazards immediately, using proper PPE, and helping build an interdependent safety culture where everyone looks out for one another.
- Elevate workmanship and quality by applying high standards of craftsmanship, following diagrams and specifications precisely, performing quality inspections, and raising issues early to prevent costly failures.
- Reduce downtime and improve reliability by supporting failure analysis, documenting preventive and corrective maintenance, and providing feedback that strengthens the preventive-maintenance system.
- Enhance operational efficiency by scheduling maintenance around production needs, identifying and reducing manufacturing constraints, and keeping work areas clean, organized, and audit-ready.
- Develop team capability by instructing and coaching less-experienced team members, serving as an informal technical resource, and sharing best practices that raise the skill level of the entire team.
- Drive continuous improvement by solving problems collaboratively, improving processes, and participating actively in TPM initiatives that enhance quality, safety, material flow, and equipment performance.
- Grow technical and professional strength by completing required training, expanding your mechanical and safety knowledge, and adapting to new tasks and technologies that support evolving business goals.
To be successful in this role you will need the following:
- Collaborative mindset - Build strong working relationships with peers, support teams, and cross-functional partners so problems get solved quickly and equipment stays reliable.
- Ability to manage complexity - Break down high-volume, fast-moving, and sometimes conflicting information so you can troubleshoot effectively and make sound decisions under pressure.
- Proactive health & safety habits - Model safe behaviors, identify hazards early, report issues immediately, and help create an interdependent safety culture where everyone protects one another.
- Controls-safety awareness - Understand electrical, hydraulic, and pneumatic hazards well enough to incorporate safe practices into every task and maintain a safe machine environment.
- Strong manufacturing knowledge - Understand processes, equipment, and applications well enough to implement changes correctly and contribute to continuous improvement across the facility.
- Technical discipline - Follow procedures, diagrams, and specifications precisely to ensure repairs, adjustments, and improvements are done right the first time.
- Structured problem-solving skills - Use systematic methods to identify root causes, implement durable solutions, and prevent recurring issues in equipment and processes.
- Adaptability and continuous learning - Stay open to new tools, technologies, and evolving work demands so you can remain effective in a dynamic manufacturing environment.
