DESCRIPTION
Job Summary:
Technical specialist and primary customer support contact to diagnose and execute complex repairs to engine products at the customer's site.
We are looking for a talented Marine Field Service Diesel Technician/Mechanic to join our Distribution business in (Portland, OR) .

This role will make an impact in the following ways:
Perform complex diagnostics, repairs, overhauls, and rebuilds on Cummins marine engines and generator systems at customer sites, docks, and shipyards.
• Provide advanced troubleshooting and root cause analysis using Cummins INSITE and other electronic diagnostic tools.
• Complete preventive maintenance and corrective repairs in compliance with Cummins standards and customer requirements.

• Maintain detailed and accurate service documentation, including repair records, warranty claims, and time entries.
• Ensure all work adheres to Cummins Health, Safety & Environmental policies and marine safety regulations.
• Provide guidance and mentorship to less experienced technicians, sharing technical expertise and best practices.
RESPONSIBILITIES
In order to be successful in this role you will need the following:
• Proven ability to complete complex internal engine repairs and perform unassisted marine engine overhauls .
• Extensive experience troubleshooting mechanical, electrical, and aftertreatment systems (DEF, DPF, exhaust).
• Ability to diagnose issues independently, with limited or no assistance from diagnostic tools.
• Thorough understanding of marine propulsion systems , cooling, fuel, and electrical systems.
• Experience coaching or mentoring other technicians, including technical documentation and process support.
• Strong customer service orientation and ability to perform effectively in the field with minimal supervision.
• Must possess a valid driver's license, meet DOT requirements , and be able to travel to customer sites or ports as needed.
QUALIFICATIONS
- Strong mechanical background and troubleshooting skills required; able to diagnose, adjust and repair malfunctions.
- Self-starter able to work with limited supervision.
- Excellent customer satisfaction skills and the ability to work in a fast-paced environment required.
- Proficient in the use of a computer, Microsoft Office products and service software required in position; able to complete service reports and provide pertinent details for work orders.
- Must be able to work additional hours to meet business and customer demands.
- Must be willing to travel/work out of town as needed.
- Must be well organized and have the ability to prioritize workload while providing excellent customer service.
- Valid driver's license and clean driving record.

DOT
- A current valid license is required for this role
- This role requires a 5 year motor vehicle report, free from major violations
- This role requires applicant to pass a Department of Transportation (DOT) physical
- 3 years driving experience
- This role is subject to Department of Transportation (DOT) driving regulations including Hours of Service and Electronic Log Booking Device use
-Federal law requires operators of commercial vehicles to be 21 years of age or older, applicant must be 21 years of age
- This position is subject to Federal Transit Administration random and pre-employment drug testing requirements. This roll will be subject to on-going random drug and alcohol testing.
Compensation and Benefits
Base salary rate commensurate with experience.
