DESCRIPTION
The Manufacturing Engineer contributes to the planning, design, procurement, and implementation of changes in manufacturing processes, equipment, and systems across DBU sites. The role supports Industrial Engineering (IE) and Manufacturing Engineering (ME) activities by developing process documentation, performing analyses, and collaborating with global teams. This position ensures that safety, quality, and manufacturing objectives are met while driving continuous improvement and digital manufacturing initiatives.
Key Responsibilities Manufacturing / Industrial Engineering Support
- Collaborate with Industrial Engineering teams to develop and update Manufacturing Engineering documentation such as:
- Process Flow Diagrams (PFDs)
- Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) and Process Documentation
- Video capture and Time Study / Cycle Time analysis
- Static Line Balancing (Excel-based)
- Standard Work Instructions (SWI/SWS) using Excel/PPT
- PFMEA and Control Plans (Excel-based)
- 2D Plant Layouts using AutoCAD
- Provide IE/ME consultation and support to global DBU sites as required.
- Support Manufacturing Project Inputs, Reviews, and digital manufacturing initiatives across locations.
Process & Equipment Development
- Assist in designing and implementing manufacturing processes ensuring safety, quality, and business goals are met.
- Contribute to improvements in manufacturing methods through data-driven analysis and continuous improvement tools.
- Work with internal and external stakeholders on project execution, technical reviews, and validation.
- Support equipment selection and capital procurement aligned with Cummins specifications.
Standards & Continuous Improvement
- Assist in developing manufacturing standards, work methods, workstation designs, and ergonomically compliant layouts.
- Contribute to process optimization initiatives, waste reduction, and operational efficiency improvements.
- Generate clear, structured, and standardized process documentation for manufacturing operations.

- Drawing Interpretation: Ability to interpret product and equipment drawings for process design.
- Manufacturing Analysis Led Design: Skilled in digital tools for modeling and simulation to support decision-making.
- Process Documentation: Strong ability to create SOPs, SWIs, PFDs, PFMEA, and Control Plans.
- Tool & Fixture Design: Knowledge of selecting proper devices for secure and accurate manufacturing operations.
- Workstation & Ergonomics Design: Ability to design safe, ergonomic, and efficient operator stations.
- Continuous Process Improvement: Knowledge of Lean, Kaizen, and waste reduction principles.
- Problem Solving: Uses systematic methodologies to resolve issues, identify root causes, and implement corrective actions.

Tools Expertise Required
- Microsoft Tools (Excel, PowerPoint, Visio) - Must
- AutoCAD (2D) - Must
- 3D CAD Tools (Delmia 3DExperience, MPP, Creo) - Added Advantage
- Discrete Event Simulation - Delmia 3DExperience (Good to have)
- 3D Factory Simulation Tools (FlexSim/Plant Simulation) - Good to have
QUALIFICATIONS
Qualifications
- Education:
- Bachelor's Degree in Manufacturing, Industrial, or Mechanical Engineering preferred.
- Degree in STEM or related field acceptable.
Experience
- 5 to 10 years of shop floor experience in the Automotive Assembly domain with strong exposure to Industrial and Manufacturing Engineering.
- Background Requirement:
- 50% Industrial Engineering
- 50% Manufacturing Engineering / Digital Manufacturing
