Electronic Service Tool Application - Identifies the suite of available hardware and software tools required for a service event; utilizes the appropriate electronic tool set to maintain the product or diagnose and troubleshoot an issue; interprets electronic tool results or recommendations to determine next steps for service resolution.

Engine Systems Interactions - Interprets and analyzes the interactions of internal and external electrical and mechanical systems (exhaust, heating, cooling, fuel systems, driveline, aftertreatment, controls, sensors, etc.) by applying tools, service publications (Cummins, Original Equipment Manufacturer) and taking measurements to efficiently and correctly diagnose and repair.

Power Generation Systems Knowledge - Demonstrates knowledge of Cummins and industry standards by complying with all safe work procedures including Personal Protective Equipment to create a safe work environment; interprets and analyzes Power Generation system operation and integration (switch gear, power system controls, uninterruptable power supply, etc.) by applying tools, service publications (Cummins, Original Equipment Manufacturer) and taking measurements to efficiently and correctly diagnose and repair.

Product Repair and Maintenance - Repairs and maintains mechanical/electrical products following guidelines, using required tools within standard repair time to ensure a quality repair; disassembles and assembles engines or power generators following guidelines, using required tools to ensure a clean and organized environment; inspects and replaces parts and components following re-use guidelines to minimize customers cost of ownership; performs progressive damage check following guidelines to restore to pre-failure condition.

Service Documentation - Creates and verifies customer, equipment and technical information; captures specific data using required service tools; follows procedures and documents required information in the service management system in order to have an accurate record of the work done.

Technical Escalation - Obtains product technical issue information and utilizes available resources including data management tools; elevates issues to a higher level of expertise, balancing timeliness of customer response with investigation efforts; captures all troubleshooting steps in the appropriate database in order to ensure seamless transitions and accurate response to ticket resolution in a timely manner.

In order to be successful in this role you will need the following:

  • Perform advanced-level troubleshooting, maintenance, overhaul, and repair of diesel and natural-gas generator sets, automatic transfer switches (ATS), and associated power generation and distribution equipment.
  • Lead and execute complex preventive maintenance, load bank testing, commissioning, and detailed equipment inspections while ensuring accurate and timely service documentation and reporting.
  • Independently diagnose and resolve complex electrical, mechanical, and control system issues with minimal supervision.
  • Serve as a technical resource by mentoring Level 1 and Level 2 technicians, providing guidance on diagnostics, repairs, and best practices.
  • Interface professionally with customers to explain findings, corrective actions, and equipment recommendations.

Required Skills, Education, and Experience

  • Minimum of 5+ years of hands-on experience working with power generation equipment, diesel engines, and industrial electrical/mechanical systems.
  • Advanced ability to read, interpret, and apply technical documentation, including wiring diagrams, schematics, control logic, and service manuals.
  • High proficiency with diagnostic software, OEM control platforms, multimeters, insulation testers, and other advanced electrical/mechanical testing tools.
  • Strong understanding of safety practices, electrical codes, and industry standards related to power generation systems.
  • High school diploma or equivalent and a valid driver's license with a clean driving record.

Preferred (Nice-to-Have) Qualifications

  • Technical school training, military training, or certifications in diesel technology, electrical systems, or power generation.
  • Advanced experience with ATS systems, paralleling switchgear, and generator control platforms such as Cummins PowerCommand, Deep Sea, ASCO, ComAp , or similar systems.
  • Experience supporting critical power applications (data centers, healthcare, municipal, or industrial facilities).

Additional Requirements

  • Must hold a current, valid driver's license.
  • Must be at least 18 years of age with a minimum of 2 years driving experience .
  • Role requires a 5-year Motor Vehicle Report (MVR) free from major violations.
  • CDL may be required or obtained upon hire ; federal regulations require CDL holders to be 21 years of age or older .
