Direct the overall architecture and technology development of Cummins' electronic systems platform, subsystems, and components. Responsible for the strategic leadership of the electronic systems product line, and drive resolution of cross-functional issues within and outside of the electronic systems function. Obtain key input and negotiate with product teams and deliver technical direction and leadership to all employees developing electronic systems. Utilize advanced systems knowledge and expertise to make decisions in the areas of electronic system architecture, implementation and verification that impact the electronic system product line. Create and improve software, calibration, tool and electronic hardware development processes and tools required to guide the processes and enable high quality decision making. Lead interaction between software, calibration, and tool development areas to maximize organizational technical quality, productivity and performance. Integrate all of the market and key customer needs of a given product platform into a comprehensive and holistic development plan. Verify platform capability for all planned and approved architectural variants within the boundaries of market use rather than the boundaries of any single customer within the target usage markets. Lead the Systems Thinking process to define the system of interest, analyze linkage and interactions between elements that comprise it, and predict its behavior in order to devise modifications to it to produce the desired effects. Design and apply Mechatronics Systems including specifying electronic hardware and interconnections that measure and control systems and applying electronics hardware and interconnections in company products. Impact product design decisions through the utilization and interpretation of computational tools and methods that predict the capability of a product's function relative to its system, sub-system or component level requirements as part of Product Function Modeling, Simulation and Analysis. Generate alternative architectures traceable to the requirements and perform trade-off analysis in collaboration with life-cycle stakeholders to ensure a balanced and optimum platform. Communicate and maintain traceable information and plans executed by product development teams. Provide technical leadership for the business's most complex global technical challenges.

Positions require a Master's degree in Computer or Electronics Engineering, or related field, and 4 years of experience as a Controls or Systems Engineer or Specialist, or related position. Alternatively, the employer will accept a Bachelor's degree in Computer or Electronics Engineering, or related field, and 6 years of experience as a Controls or Systems Engineer or Specialist, or related position. Experience to include: Technology development of electronic systems, subsystems, and components; Electronic system architecture, implementation and verification; Electronic hardware development processes and tools; Organizational technical quality, productivity and performance; Product platform development; Verify platform capability; Systems Thinking process to produce the desired effects; Mechatronics Systems including electronic hardware and interconnections; Product Function Modeling, Simulation and Analysis; Trade-off analysis to ensure a balanced platform.
