We are looking for an enthusiastic engineering candidate to join our team specializing in customer engineering for our Turbocharger business in Huddersfield, UK. During your apprenticeship with us, you will learn how a major global organization operates, gaining the tools and exposure you will need to become an expert in the industry and power your potential!

Summary of the course:

The engineering degree Apprentice role is a developmental position within the customer engineering team and working across with other engineering functions. During the apprenticeship you will work 5 days per week, inclusive of 1 day per week for study at University of Sheffield (AMRC). The working hours are 8:30am - 4:30 (30-minute lunchbreak). On completion of this apprenticeship, you will obtain a Mechanical Manufacture BEng qualification

In this role, you will make an impact in the following ways:

  • Manage project prototype execution, including working closely with special product and laboratory operation teams on end-to-end prototype delivery activities, and tracking prototype timeline and deliverables.
  • Manage bill of material (BOM) and parts, including maintaining and updating prototype BOM, performing part availability checks, and interfacing with supply chain team to resolve shortage, track delivery status and expedite critical components.
  • Prototype build and control planning, including developing prototype control plan, ensuring required checks and quality control, and assisting build readiness review
  • Test & facility coordination, including coordinating with Lab Ops team to confirm test facility capability and availability of fixtures and instrumentation, and pre-test checks, pass-off testing and test result documentation
  • Technical development (long term), including developing capability to support: DVP&R (Design Verification Plan & Report), technical validation documentation, and application sign-off processes. It will also contribute to engineering reports and design reviews.
  • Collaborate and communicate effectively with other teams to ensure alignment and address cross-functional issues, also provide regular updates on status and progress to the team.Adapt to the evolving demands, requirements of the project and engaging in various technical tasks as needed.

To be successful in this role you will need the following:

  • GCSEs including Math's/Science at Grade 5/B, 4 other subjects at 4/C or above.
  • A minimum of 2 A-Levels at grade B or above, which must include mathematics or further mathematics and of the following: Physics, biology, chemistry or engineering
  • Level 3 Btec extended diploma engineering course (minimum DM) (120 Credits needed)
  • BTEC level 4 HNC (Distinction)
  • BTEC level 5 HND (Distinction)
  • A genuine strong interest in engineering or science.
