Commissioning Engineer - Power Generation

We are looking for a talented Commissioning Engineer - Power Generation to join our team specializing in Power Generation in the USA, preferably in the Western region of the US.
In this role, you will make an impact in the following ways:
- Provide expert diagnostic support for complex and difficult-to-diagnose warranty and non-warranty repair events, enabling accurate root cause identification and resolution.
- Formulate and direct comprehensive repair plans for complex issues, ensuring safe, effective, and durable repair outcomes.
- Clearly and concisely document diagnostic findings and repair actions in the appropriate systems to support traceability, learning, and compliance.
- Manage and coordinate escalations of highly complex cases to the appropriate technical support levels to ensure timely and effective resolution.
- Lead diagnostic support and escalation process improvement initiatives to enhance efficiency, quality, and consistency across the support network.
- Maintain deep technical knowledge of current and new Cummins products to provide authoritative guidance and support evolving technologies.
- Investigate product issues directly at customer or dealer locations and distribute clear, actionable technical communications across the assigned region.
- Mentor and coach regional technicians to build capability, increase repair effectiveness, and strengthen Cummins service performance while promoting service programs that drive growth.

To be successful in this role you will need the following:
- Collaborate effectively with cross-functional teams, dealers, and service partners to achieve shared service and customer objectives.
- Communicate clearly across multiple channels, adapting technical information to meet the needs of customers, technicians, and internal stakeholders.
- Maintain strong customer focus by building trusted relationships and delivering solutions that minimize downtime and protect customer operations.
- Manage complex, high-volume, and sometimes conflicting information to accurately diagnose issues and determine the right resolution path.
- Demonstrate nimble learning by continuously building product, system, and tool knowledge and applying lessons learned from prior cases.
- Apply resourcefulness to efficiently leverage diagnostic tools, data systems, subject-matter experts, and service network resources.
- Stay tech savvy by adopting new diagnostic technologies, digital tools, and systems that improve troubleshooting accuracy and speed.
- Translate customer complaints into structured diagnostic plans using guided workflows, procedures, and specialized mechanical and electronic tools.
- Effectively use electronic service tools to diagnose issues, interpret results, and determine appropriate next steps for resolution.
- Validate repair effectiveness by confirming the original complaint is fully resolved before case closure.
- Apply Service Capability, Capacity, and Coverage principles to align service delivery with customer expectations, business priorities, and available resources.
- Analyze service capability metrics to identify and support improvements within the service network.
- Create complete, accurate service documentation to support compliance, payment, traceability, and historical learning.
- Manage technical escalations by capturing detailed troubleshooting steps, leveraging available resources, and ensuring seamless handoffs for timely resolution.
Education, Licenses, Certifications:
- College, university, or equivalent degree in a relevant discipline or relevant experience equivalent required.
- This position may require licensing for compliance with export controls or sanctions regulations.
Experience:
- Intermediate level of relevant work experience required.
- Prior experience in a technical role is preferred.
Additional Information:
Location & Travel
This position requires residence within the Western United States and the ability to travel 75% or more to support business needs.
Required Qualifications
- Minimum of 3 years of on-site experience in the power generation industry
- Experience with generator paralleling systems
- Experience with electrical switchgear systems
- Strong communication skills, including the ability to organize and lead meetings and communicate effectively through verbal and technology-based methods
- Proficiency in electrical system design and the ability to read and interpret electrical schematics
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience with control systems, data networks, and PLCs
- College, university, or technical degree in a related field, or an equivalent combination of education and relevant experience
