R&D Lab Services and Instruments Lead, Melbourne CBD

Responsible for overseeing the maintenance, calibration, and lifecycle management of laboratory instruments and services. This role ensures that all lab equipment operates efficiently, safely, and in compliance with regulatory standards, supporting scientific and operational excellence.

Your Responsibilities

  • Lead the planning, procurement, installation, and qualification of laboratory instruments and equipment
  • Manage preventive maintenance, calibration schedules, and service contracts for all lab instruments to ensure continuous operation and compliance
  • Serve as the primary liaison between lab users, vendors, and facilities teams for equipment-related issues, ensuring quick resolution and minimizing downtime
  • Develop and enforce Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) for equipment use, maintenance, and safety to ensure proper handling and regulatory compliance
  • Support lab relocations, expansions, and reconfigurations, including the management of instrumentation requirements and adjustments

Your Skills & Experience
  • Bachelor's degree in Life Sciences, Engineering, or a related technical field
  • 10+ years of experience in laboratory operations or facilities management, with a focus on instrumentation
  • Strong knowledge of lab equipment across disciplines (e.g., analytical, biological, chemical)
  • Experience with Computerized Maintenance Management Systems (CMMS) and asset tracking tools for managing instrument lifecycle
  • Familiarity with regulatory requirements such as GLP, CMP, and ISO standards for laboratory operations and instrument management
  • Excellent organizational, communication, and problem-solving skills
