Global Head EHS Risk Management & Environmental Lead
Position Purpose
The Senior Director, Global EHS & Environmental Risk Management is accountable for leading the strategic development, implementation, and oversight of Environmental, Health, and Safety (EHS) and environmental risk management programs across all global operations. This role ensures proactive identification, assessment, and mitigation of EHS and environmental risks, aligning with international regulatory requirements, , and business goals. The incumbent will drive global risk governance, foster a culture of safety and environmental complaince, and integrate EHS and environmental management into core business operations and decision-making processes.
Key Responsibilities
Develop and execute a global EHS risk management and environmental management strategies aligned with corporate goals, regulatory requirements, and sustainability objectives.
Lead enterprise-wide risk assessments and implement mitigation plans for high-impact EHS and environmental risks.
Establish and maintain global EHS and environmental governance frameworks, policies, and procedures.
Ensure compliance with international EHS and environmental regulations, standards, and best practices.
Develop and oversee global Environmental Management Systems (EMS) aligned with ISO 14001 and corporate sustainability goals.
Drive initiatives to reduce environmental footprint (energy, emissions, water, waste) and support corporate carbon reduction targets.
Collaborate with sustainability teams to integrate environmental risk into ESG reporting and climate resilience strategies.
Monitor emerging environmental regulations and trends to ensure proactive compliance and risk mitigation.
Collaborate with regional and functional leaders to embed EHS and environmental risk management into business operations.
Monitor and report on global EHS and environmental performance, trends, and emerging issues.
Support internal and external audits, inspections, and regulatory engagements.
Champion continuous improvement initiatives and innovation in EHS and environmental risk management.
Provide strategic guidance and leadership to global EHS and environmental teams and stakeholders.
Promote a culture of accountability, safety, and proactive environmental stewardship across the organization.
Oversee governance and risk mitigation strategies for high-risk operations (e.g., chemical handling, confined space entry, working at heights).
Champion a values-based safety and sustainability culture through leadership engagement, behavioral safety initiatives, and recognition programs.
Oversee the global pSIF (Potential Serious Injury & Fatality) program, including the definition of event criteria, systematic identification processes, centralized tracking, and implementation of targeted mitigation strategies to proactively reduce high-consequence risks.
Education and Experience Requirements
Bachelor's degree in Environmental Science, Sustainability, Occupational Health, Engineering, or related field required; Master's degree preferred.
Professional certifications such as CSP (Certified Safety Professional), CIH (Certified Industrial Hygienist), or equivalent strongly preferred.
Minimum of 10 years of progressive experience in global EHS and environmental risk management, compliance, and governance.
Proven track record of leading global EHS and environmental programs and managing complex risk portfolios.

This role is responsible for establishing and maintaining a robust global EHS and environmental risk governance framework that ensures consistent risk identification, evaluation, and control across all business units. The Senior Director will lead governance activities including policy development, risk reporting, compliance monitoring, and stakeholder communication. The position will also ensure alignment with global standards such as ISO 31000, ISO 14001, and ISO 45001, and drive integration of EHS and environmental risk governance into enterprise risk management systems. Ensure all capital project designs include proactive EHS and environmental risk mitigation strategies. Lead high-hazard activity and global culture programs to promote safety, sustainability, and risk awareness. Oversee the pSIF (Potential Serious Injury and Fatality) program, including defining criteria for pSIF events, identification, tracking, and mitigation strategies. Develop and implement enterprise-wide EHS and environmental risk management frameworks to support consistent global practices. Develop and deliver EHS and environmental risk awareness and training programs across all business units.
