For our location in Bern, we are currently looking for a
Global EHS Lead - Portfolio & Project Delivery
Accountable for the development , implementation and sustainment of EHS systems and governance across global CSL Tier 1 & 2 projects . This person will be key in ensuring global EHS by design, process safety management and key EHS technical standards alignment, and implementation. This role will collaborate as part of the Global EHS team, reporting into the Global Head of EHS Design, Construction and Fire/Life Safety.

Main Responsibilities and Accountabilities:
- Drives development, implementation and sustainment of a global EHS design review process based on industry best practices to ensure EHS requirements are considered throughout all phases of a project. Reviews and advances a multi-project portfolio identifying EHS aspects at stage gates, managing issues, and outlining pathways to achieve desired outcomes and business deliverables, while maintaining company EHS standards.
- Conducts audits of high hazard and construction processes and management systems to ensure on-going effectiveness of controls, program conformance, and compliance.
- Supports the development and strategic planning for the successful implementation, compliance, and maintenance of core technical EHS programs (i.e., EHS in Technology Transfer, PSM, Safe System of Work and Permit to Work (PtW), Hot Work, Electrical Safety, Confined Space Entry, Working at Heights, Lockout Tagout Try Out, Machinery Safety, Chemicals Safety,.)
- Drives development, implementation and sustainment of a global construction and contractor safety management program. Examples of program elements include contractor pre-qualification, on-site safety support, inspections, incident reporting and investigation, hazard review and mitigation, pretask planning, and oversight of existing programs and relationships, such as ISNetworld contractor prequalification process.
- Assists with the development of wholistic operating mechanisms required for effective global EHS Governance against policies, strategy, requirements, goals, objectives, and KPIs.
- Leads and manages EHS project management aspects, related to Design and major commissioning or decommissioning activities across CSL locations (feasibility, concept design, basic design detailed design, PSSR and site start up, shut down, new process commission, etc). Ensure all required elements are in place for proper handover to incoming EHS or Operations team. Highlights major risks and ensures proper controls are implemented. Supports local program development as needed.
- Conducts incident investigations and root cause analyses PSM events and pSIF events. Coaches and teaches investigation skills, root cause analysis and CAPAs to local EHS Leads on projects and local program leads and SMEs on existing facilities.
- EHS SME during stage gate reviews of projects. Reviews portfolio of CSL projects to make sure they are outlined properly in terms of EHS impacts. Spends time understanding the actual risk of the project versus secondary control options at the respected sites. Helps prioritize and ensures all required controls are put in place as part of portfolio/project request (building to code, standard etc.)
- Directs field support, ensuring construction and project safety, across all EHS aspects as applicable. This may require temporary relocation or business travel to support a project as required.
- Provides leadership and acts as the subject matter expert on core technical EHS programs (i.e., EHS in Technology Transfer, PSM, Safe System of Work and Permit to Work (PtW), Hot Work, Electrical Safety, Confined Space Entry, Working at Heights, Lockout Tagout Try Out, Machinery Safety, Chemicals Safety)across the organization.
Qualifications and Experience Requirements:
Education Bachelor's degree in Occupational Safety, Environmental Engineering, Environmental Sciences, Chemical Engineering or equivalent; advanced degree and/or an MBA with at least 7 years of EHS or related experience in a biotech/pharmaceutical environment preferred.
Experience
- Well versed in EHS management systems such as ISO 14001 and ISO 45001.
- 8+ years of demonstrated experience with the implementation and sustainment of EHS compliance on a global scale.
- Experience in PSM, SIF Prevention, PtW System is required.
- Extensive construction safety and project management experience is required.
- Experience in EHS compliance, EHS risk management and development of EHS programs (PTW LOTOTO, Occupational Hygiene, waste, wastewater, air pollution, biodiversity, pharmaceuticals in the environment, etc..).

Additional Comments:
This position will require travel around the CSL network. This position may require temporary relocation or business travel to support a project as required.
