Global Category Manager, CMOs
In partnership with the CMO Category Associate Director, the Global Category Manager - CMOs develops and executes global category strategies across CSL's Contract Manufacturing Organization (CMO) externalization pipeline. The role delivers significant value through relationship management of key and strategic CMO partners, developing category strategies in close collaboration with network strategy focusing on supplier collaboration to optimize performance and to drive results.
The Global Category Manager - CMOs influences senior leaders globally, manages complex stakeholder relationships, and ensures procurement strategies and policies align with enterprise objectives to drive excellence and continuous improvement across CSL.
As a core Senior member of the CMO Sourcing team, the role is accountable for delivering category targets and unlocking total cost of ownership (TCO) value by addressing capacity, quality, service, cost, and supply risk constraints, while supporting technical transfers, risk mitigation, and innovation.
This position shapes network-wide sourcing strategies, simplifies the manufacturing supply chain, ensures product safety, and delivers sustained multi-million-dollar value. The role also provides market insights to enable external partners to drive innovation, agility, and cost efficiency in support of CSL's strategy.
The incumbent supports global initiatives across regions and leads or contributes to global sourcing, bid activities, and major sourcing projects.
Sourcing strategy development
- Lead the development and execution of long-term category strategies aligned with enterprise objectives.
- Collaborate globally across business units to influence senior leaders and advocate for key business improvement programs.
- Develop business cases to gain endorsement for value-driving initiatives.
- Lead annual opportunity analysis forums with cross-functional stakeholders and supplier partners to replenish initiative pipelines.
- Act as a conduit for external innovation, facilitating workshops to solve complex business challenges through supplier partnerships.
Team leadership
- Lead, motivate and develop employees within the Procurement organization, fostering a high-performance and collaborative culture.
- Develop workforce plans and succession strategies to ensure team capability and continuity.
- Provide coaching and support for professional development and performance improvement.
- Lead initiatives to enhance procurement capabilities and deliver sustained value.
- Drive continuous improvement in sourcing processes, tools, and methodologies.
- Build strategic relationships with key suppliers to enhance collaboration, performance, and innovation.
- Lead negotiations to secure favorable terms while maintaining strong partnerships.
- Monitor supplier performance and ensure alignment with contractual obligations and business expectations.
- Ensure adherence to procurement policies, governance frameworks, and compliance standards.
- Manage procurement-related risks and implement mitigation strategies.
- Oversee budget planning and financial management within assigned categories.
- Monitor performance of category strategies in achieving value creation and delivery KPIs
- Provide regular reporting and insights to executive leadership on category performance and strategic initiatives.
- Partner with Finance BPs, Operational Excellence, and Procurement Business Partners to align category strategies with business needs.
- Develop tailored communications for diverse audiences to manage change, resolve conflict, and build consensus.

Education Requirements
Bachelor's degree in business, Supply Chain, or related discipline; MBA or advanced degree preferred.
Experience Requirements
- Minimum 5+ years' experience in strategic sourcing, category management, contract manufacturing operations or relevant experience.
- Preferable 2+ years demonstrated CMO experience in a customer facing role as it relates to pharma / bio industry.
