EHS Specialist
Main Responsibilities and Accountabilities:
1 Accountable for sustainment/development of Site Environmental, Health and Safety
Information ensuring alignment with global EHS program (Enablon, SDS Management, Change Management, etc..
2 Develop criteria for local and global management review, reporting issues and status to the relevant stakeholders, project team and the project steering committee.
3 Lead safety incident investigation process, including root cause analysis and identification of corrective action plans. Review incident data and metrics to identify trends.
4 Assist in the implementation of the Contractor / Construction Safety Program including working
closely with the project delivery team to ensure all Contractor/Construction Safety elements are
applied accordingly to ensure compliance, reduce hazards and promote prevention of incidents. This would include periodic reviews of contractor selection processes and contractor specific
safety programs.
5 Oversee, manages and provides strategic direction for compliance programs related to OSHA general industry and construction safety regulations (e.g., 29 CFR 1910 and 29 CFR 1926).
6 Acts as the Safety SME during stage gate reviews of major Tier 1 and 2 projects. Support
and Review Portfolio of US CSL projects, ensuring they are outlined properly to identify
and address EHS impacts.
7 Understands and effectively articulates the actual risk of the project vs secondary control options at the respected site. Ensures proper prioritization of EHS matters, including that all required controls are in place as part of portfolio/project request (building to code, standard etc.), with a specific focus on connecting large projects and site expansion to current operations. Guiding and leading all aspects of process mapping, permitting and ongoing expansion/compliance requirements.
8 Ensures regulatory compliance and site conformance to safety procedures and policies.
9 Liaison with operating departments or Operational Leadership Teams (OLTs) on EHS matters as
assigned.
10 Support with various industrial hygiene functions, including assessments, data collection and
interpretations. Work with Team to review industrial hygiene findings and provide practical solutions to minimize risk.
11 Periodically support the different manufacturing value streams as an EHS subject Matter Expert.
Position Qualifications and Experience Requirements:
Education/ Certification
Bachelor's degree in engineering, Occupation Health and Safety or related field.
• Advanced degree preferred and/or an MBA.
• Must have or be able to obtain OSHA 3 General Industry and Construction
Industry certificates
• CSP, CSHT, OSHA 510 Certification preferred.
Experience
• 5 - 7 years of EHS or related experience in a biotech/pharmaceutical or
chemical environment.
• Well versed in EHS management systems such as ISO 45001, and ISO 14001.
• Expert in conducting regular safety walks, inspections, hazard assessments, program audits and gap assessments, and compliance reviews across project sites, ensuring timely follow-up on identified risks, lead and enforce compliance with critical safety procedures (including Lockout/Tagout, fall protection, confined space entry, PPE standards and other standards as
applicable).
• Strong collaboration skills and the ability to influence broadly across multiple sites and levels.
• Excels at the development of clear, concise, and effective policies, standards, and procedures.
• Strong interpersonal skills including verbal and written communication are essential in this collaborative work environment.
• 2+ years of demonstrated experience with the implementation and sustainment of an EHS Electronic Management System.
• Experience with data analytics and/or operational excellence and continuous improvement practices preferred.
• Experience with EHS internal auditing/corrective action development

The expected base salary range for this position at hiring is $105,000 - $124,000. Please note this salary range reflects the minimum and maximum base pay that CSL expects to pay for this position at the listed location as of the time of this posting. Individual base salary for a successful candidate is determined by qualifications, skill level, experience, competencies and other relevant factors. In addition to base salary, total compensation for this role may also include incentive compensation and equity.
