Director, Non-clinical Pharmacology T&I

We are seeking a Therapeutic Area (TA) Pharmacology Lead (Transplant & Immunology) to drive the design, execution, and interpretation of in vivo pharmacology studies that support drug discovery and development. This role is pivotal in characterising the pharmacological profile of novel therapeutic candidates through internal studies and external collaborations.

Your Key Responsibilities

Scientific Leadership

  • Define and lead the nonclinical pharmacology strategy for discovery and development programs within the therapeutic area (T&I)
  • Design and oversee in vivo efficacy, pharmacodynamic (PD), and mechanism-of-action studies in relevant animal models.
  • Guide the selection and validation of disease models that best represent human pathophysiology.

  • Develop and implement study protocols for pharmacology, target engagement, and biomarker evaluation.
  • Identify and manage external collaborators or CROs; ensure high-quality, timely execution of studies.
  • Analyse and interpret complex data sets to inform compound progression and candidate selection.
Cross-Functional Collaboration
  • Serve as Senior Pharmacology Lead on TA teams.
  • Partner with PK, Toxicology, and Translational Science to integrate pharmacology data into development plans.
  • Provide expert input on pharmacology-related issues for project teams and due diligence activities.
Documentation & Communication
  • Prepare study reports, presentations, and regulatory documents (IND, CTA).
  • Present findings to internal stakeholders and external collaborators.
Team Leadership
  • Lead and mentor a team of Principal and Senior Scientists, including hands-on in vivo work.
  • Foster a culture of scientific excellence, innovation, and continuous learning.

Your Qualifications & Experience
  • Ph.D. in Pharmacology, Physiology, Biomedical Sciences, or related field.
  • 10+ years of experience in pharmacology within pharma/biotech or academia with deep understanding of pharmaceutical development.
  • Strong expertise in in vivo pharmacology, disease models, and translational science for disease areas relevant to Transplant and/or Immunology.
  • Familiarity with regulatory expectations for nonclinical pharmacology data.
  • Proven ability to manage multiple projects and timelines.
  • Strategic thinker with excellent problem-solving, communication, and interpersonal skills.
  • Experience across multiple therapeutic areas and modalities is highly desirable
  • Extensive knowledge and subject matter expertise in disease biology related to Transplant and/or Immunology-related conditions is essential.
