About the Role:
CrowdStrike is establishing a FinOps practice to drive sustainable cost management across our fourteen product groups and eleven platform groups. The FinOps Lead will serve as the strategic leader and primary champion of this practice, establishing vision, strategy, while ensuring cost efficiency continues beyond our FY27 Cost Reduction Program.
PLEASE NOTE: This role is hybrid, requiring 2-3 days per week on-site at one of the posted locations.
What You'll Do:
Strategic Leadership
- Establish and champion the FinOps vision, strategy, across the engineering organization
- Drive FinOps capability maturity across all Cloud Cost Management Framework pillars (Understand, Quantify, Optimize)
- Serve as primary liaison between Engineering, Finance, and Executive Leadership on cost management initiatives
- Participate in Infrastructure Foundations Program Management governance to ensure alignment with FY27 Cost Reduction Program
- Report FinOps metrics, outcomes, and strategic recommendations to senior leadership
- Coordinate FinOps activities across fourteen product groups and eleven platform groups in our matrix organization
- Facilitate allocation methodology discussions between platform and product groups
- Ensure consistency in cost reporting and optimization approaches across all groups
- Lead the FinOps Working Group with representatives from key product and platform groups
- Build and maintain relationships with product group-specific program managers
- Define and prioritize FinOps capability development roadmap aligned with organizational needs
- Drive changes toward cost-conscious engineering across the entire organization
- Establish FinOps governance structures, policies, and standards
- Collaborate with Data Analytics Team on TechOps Analytics Data Solution FinOps requirements
- Partner with Infrastructure Foundations PgM to ensure no duplication and clear handoffs
- Build, lead, and mentor the FinOps core team (Senior FinOps Analyst, FinOps Analyst, FinOps Engineer, FinOps Program Manager)
- Manage FinOps budget and resource allocation
- Establish regular cadences for team operations, stakeholder engagement, and executive reporting
- Foster a collaborative environment that encourages innovation and continuous improvement
Required Qualifications
- FinOps Certified Practitioner certification (or commitment to obtain within 90 days)
- 7+ years of experience in cloud cost management, engineering leadership, or related field
- Deep understanding of cloud platforms (AWS, Azure, GCP) and their pricing models
- Proven experience navigating complex matrix organizations and building cross-functional partnerships
- Strong stakeholder management and communication skills with ability to influence at all organizational levels
- Technical credibility with engineering teams and ability to understand infrastructure and application architectures
- Experience establishing and maturing organizational practices or centers of excellence
- FinOps Certified Professional certification
- Experience in cybersecurity or SaaS industry
- Background in both engineering and finance/business functions
- Experience with data center operations and hybrid cloud environments
- Familiarity with commitment-based discount programs (Reserved Instances, Savings Plans, CUDs)
- Track record of delivering measurable cost optimization results
- Strategic thinking with ability to position near-term wins and long-term capability building
- Exceptional communication skills for technical and non-technical audiences
- Data-driven decision making with strong analytical capabilities
- Collaborative leadership style that builds consensus and drives action
- Comfort with ambiguity and ability to establish structure in emerging practice areas
