Summary:
The Sr. Project Engineer serves as a key engineering representative on new projects, retrofits, and modifications. This position works with employees on various maintenance projects, prepares processes procedures, and plans for preventative maintenance activities and equipment repairs. The position coordinates engineering activities to implement new and existing processes.
What you'll be contributing:
- Promote and follow all plant safety guidelines.
- Works with all departments and employees to plan, survey, design, write specifications, and obtain contractors for the implementation of new projects as well as the revision or retrofitting of existing equipment.
- Oversees consultants, inspects contractors' work and assists other personnel in overseeing contractors. Directs and evaluates outside engineering firms' engineering activities.
- Provides sound engineering practices for regulatory and compliance matters.
- Plans and coordinates testing and inspections of plant equipment and the planning of major projects and plant shutdown repairs and maintenance activities.
- Assists management in planning and preparing capital expenditure proposals and budgets. Prepares various reports.
- Assists in developing specifications and assisting in the purchase of plant equipment. Communicates and negotiates with vendors.
- Coordinates efforts to organize and store drawings for new and existing equipment and equipment manuals in a centralized location.
- Provides or supplies via third-party, mechanical, civil, structural, and electrical assistance.
- Assists in the assembly and submittal of permitting applications.
- Performs and supervises the performance of computer-aided design drawings of equipment systems and processes associated with plant projects.
- Promotes plant safety and ensures compliance with all safety standards and regulations, and participates in Mine Safety and Health Administration MSHA inspections.
- Uses the plant CMMS (Avantis) to assist with tracking and planning maintenance activities.
- Assists with writing, reviewing, and storing in Advantis the Standard Job Plans (SJP) & Job Safety Analyses (JSA) on specific jobs that are performed.
- Assists management with to planning, modifying, and improving equipment and structures to improve efficiency. Assists with corporate-level maintenance initiatives.
- Manages reliability engineering programs
- Additional duties as assigned by supervisor.

To succeed in this position, you will need:
- 4 year Degree in mechanical, structural, civil, or electrical engineering or related field.
- Professional Engineer (PE) is preferred
- Minimum of 5 years managing projects in heavy construction and/or process industry.
- Ability to read, write, and understand warning labels, instructions, signs, etc.
- Proficient in English written, verbal communication, and listening skills
- Ability to make decisions and solve problems with high attention to detail and accuracy
- Knowledge of various material handling conveyors (mechanical pneumatic and hydraulic), motors (AC and DC), drive systems (mechanical, electrical pneumatic, and hydraulic), fans, hydraulic systems, electrical distribution systems, etc.
- Knowledge of maintenance and repair procedures to construct and maintain cement plant equipment and structures.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office365 Word, Excel, Project, Access, CAD, and applicable CMMS software.
- Ability to read English and understand equipment manuals, mechanical drawings, and blueprints.
- Knowledge of government regulations such as MSHA as they apply to maintenance projects and repair activities.
- Ability to make sound independent judgments regularly
- Ability to work in conjunction with and collaborate with others
- Travel requirements up to 10%
