CRH Central and Eastern Europe (CEE) is a strategic division within the company that encompasses a diverse portfolio of operations and business in the Eastern region. Comprising markets Poland, Hungary, Slovakia, Austria, Romania, Ukraine, Serbia, Croatia, Germany and Switzerland, the CEE region plays a crucial role in CRH's global presence and growth strategy.

As part of our ongoing commercial transformation, we are expanding our analytics capabilities and are now seeking a Senior Commercial Data Scientist to join our growing team. This is an opportunity to apply your expertise in an environment where your insights will help shape pricing strategies, customer engagement, and sales optimisation across multiple markets.

As a Senior Commercial Data Scientist, you'll not only build advanced models but also influence strategic decisions, helping us reimagine what's possible in the construction and building materials industry. This role can be based in either our CRH office in Warsaw, Poland or Bucharest, Romania, operating on a hybrid basis with occasional travel across the CEE region.

Key Responsibilities

  • Build predictive models and optimisation algorithms to support pricing, forecasting, and margin management.
  • Analyse large datasets to uncover patterns and opportunities for revenue growth and efficiency.
  • Translate business challenges into data-driven solutions and clear recommendations.
  • Design and evaluate experiments to measure the impact of commercial initiatives.
  • Create dashboards and visualisations that communicate insights effectively.


The Ideal Candidate

The ideal candidate will be a commercially minded data scientist who combines strong technical expertise with the ability to deliver clear, actionable insights. You will have a proven track record of applying advanced analytics in complex business environments, directly influencing commercial decision-making.

We are looking for someone who can operate comfortably at both technical and strategic levels: building robust models and analytical solutions, while also engaging with senior stakeholders and influencing business strategy across multiple markets. Key requirements include:

  • Master's degree in Data Science, Statistics, Computer Science, Economics, or a related field.
  • 5+ years' experience in data science or advanced analytics, ideally within B2B or industrial sectors.
  • Advanced proficiency in Python, SQL, and visualisation tools such as Power BI or Qlik.
  • Strong knowledge of machine learning libraries (e.g., scikit-learn, XGBoost), statistical modelling, and experimental design.
  • Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills, fluent in English (knowledge of a Central or Eastern European language is an advantage).
  • Flexibility to travel across the CEE region when required.

Desirable:

  • Experience in m anufacturing, construction, or building materials.
  • Familiarity with Azure and Snowflake.
  • Expertise in pricing science, elasticity modelling, or customer lifetime value analysis.
  • Experience mentoring junior data scientists.
