Position Overview
We're seeking skilled and motivated individuals for the Screed Operator role - a critical position on our construction and paving projects. As a Screed Operator, you'll be a key player in our dynamic team, taking on a variety of responsibilities and advancing your career in the field of construction. Key Responsibilities
- Operate heavy equipment of various sizes and weights safely and efficiently in road, site, or highway construction and paving.
- Promote and maintain a safe work environment, strictly following all safety policies and procedures and using the correct tools and equipment for each task.
- Control material flow into the paver and regulate material depth for optimal distribution.
- Gain comprehensive knowledge of the paving industry, including preparatory work, grades, drainage, paving patterns, aggregate sizes, project specifications, oil consistencies, and proper compaction techniques.
- Proactively report any issues or concerns to your supervisor.
- Take responsibility for safety - both your own and your coworkers' - through clear communication, eye contact, and hand signals when backing or maneuvering equipment.
- Follow all company policies and OSHA/MSHA safety regulations for procedures and work environment, promptly reporting concerns to supervisors or safety personnel.
- Carry out daily instructions and tasks as directed by the Foreman for each project or site.
- Perform routine equipment maintenance and servicing; notify the Foreman of any major issues.
- Complete daily pre- and post-inspections with proper documentation in line with company policies.
- Share your expertise by training less experienced team members on equipment operation, servicing, and repair.
- Assist with general labor duties as needed to support project success.
- Ensure quality control and safety standards are met throughout the project.
- Maintain reliable and consistent attendance at scheduled times.
- Take on additional responsibilities as assigned to contribute to the team's success.

Qualifications
- Ability to perform all essential duties to a high standard.
- High school diploma or GED preferred, but not required.
- Previous experience in construction is a plus
Work Requirements
- Must be at least 18 years old.
- Must successfully complete a pre-employment physical, drug screen, and criminal background check.
- Strict commitment to safety protocols and company policies.
- Willingness to collaborate in a team environment and assist coworkers or supervisors as needed.
- Openness to travel and work away from home when project demands require.
- Availability to work nights and weekends, if necessary.
- Consistent use of required personal protective equipment (PPE) - including face shield, safety (hard toe) shoes, and safety vest - in designated areas, in compliance with OSHA/MSHA guidelines.
- Full compliance with OSHA/MSHA safety regulations at all times.
Knowledge and Skills
- Strong understanding of construction and paving materials, methods, and tools.
- Ability to read, write, and perform basic math calculations.
- Competence in following verbal and written instructions.
- Effective communication skills, both verbal and written.
- Proficient and safe use of tools and equipment.
Physical & Work Environment Requirements
- Frequently required to climb, balance, and perform tasks involving physical agility.
- Regularly sit, climb, and use hand signals or equipment; occasionally stand, walk, crawl, kneel, bend, stoop, crouch, or reach above shoulder height.
- Lift and move objects weighing up to 25-50 lbs as needed.
- Work primarily outdoors, often in extreme weather and environmental conditions.
- Comfortable working in all weather conditions; exposed to jobsite hazards such as moving machinery, high places, airborne particles, and loud environments.
- Must have specific vision abilities, including close, distance, color, peripheral, and depth perception, to operate equipment safely.
- Reasonable accommodations provided as necessary to enable individuals with disabilities to perform essential functions.
