Position Overview

The Ready-Mix Concrete Operations Intern will work for approximately 10-12 weeks at Pennsy Supply, Inc. to integrate the education received from a college and/or university to the company's objectives. The Intern will be exposed to a variety of departments and work environments during the internship. This will involve traveling to and between various plants in Pennsy Supply's Harrisburg, PA market region.

Key Responsibilities (Essential Duties and Functions)

  • Adhere to and follow all safety rules and regulations of MSHA/OSHA/DOT and Pennsy Supply, Inc.
  • Conduct daily safety assignments (area inspections, pre-shifts, JSA's, TRACK, etc)
  • Assist in day-to-day operations of the ready-mix concrete plant, including batching and mixing processes
  • Engage with team members to identify opportunities for process improvements.
  • Willingness to work in a team environment and assist co-workers or supervisors with other duties as required.
  • Read and analyze charts, work orders, production schedules, and other record and reports to determine production requirements and to evaluate current production estimates and outputs
  • Other duties as assigned

Requirements
  • Mobility to attend various meetings and events at offsite locations.
  • Must submit to a drug screen and criminal background check
  • Ability to travel with a current driver's license.


Education/Experience
  • Must be enrolled in an accredited college or university and working towards an associate or bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering, Construction Management, or other industry related degree program.
  • Desired 3.0 GPA or higher.
  • Excellent computer skills and proficient in Word and Excel
