Position Overview

Responsible for maintaining the plant site, building, and assisting with daily operations of a concrete plant.

Key Responsibilities (Essential Duties and Functions)

  • Responsible for general plant and yard housekeeping and upkeep. Help facilitate the cleanliness of the plant and yard facility daily.
  • Conduct a complete pre- and post-shift safety inspection of all equipment operated, ensuring all systems are functioning properly.
  • Maintenance activities include but not limited to, machine lubrication, plant-specific component maintenance, etc. Performs basic maintenance and service on plant as required.
  • Communicate with plant management on all safety and maintenance needs.
  • Participate in creating a safe work environment, achieve safety goals, implement company safety programs, and comply with OSHA/MSHA/Company safety standards.
  • Responsible for collecting and emptying garbage and performing general landscape duties as required.
  • Properly follow all company policies and procedures for safe working procedures and environment. Report any problems to the Foreman, Superintendent, Safety Manager, or Human Resources.
  • Picks up parts from vendors and delivers to plants, shop, or various job sites.
  • Performs snow removal with a shovel, snow blower, or bobcat when necessary.
  • Other duties as assigned.


Qualifications

Education/Experience
  • High School diploma or general education degree (GED) preferred.
  • One to two years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Experience in the operation of concrete facilities or other similar related industry experience preferred.


Work Requirements
  • Must be 18 years in age or older.
  • Must pass pre-employment drug screen and criminal background check.
  • Must possess and maintain a valid drivers license [Class B CDL, Air Brakes] and meet the company MVR requirements.
  • Strict adherence to safety requirements and procedures as outlined in the Employee and Safety Policy Manuals/Handbooks.
  • Regular, on-time and consistent attendance is required and must be willing to work nights, weekends, and holidays when necessary.
  • Must be willing to travel to other locations occasionally within the workday.


Knowledge/Skill Requirements
  • Ability to understand and follow verbal and written instructions.
  • Ability to cope well in stressful environments and communicate professionally.
  • Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals.
  • Ability to operate equipment safely and efficiently under a variety of working conditions.
  • Ability to read and comprehend policies, instructions, site maps, city street maps and other GPS based equipment information.
  • Ability to work effectively in a team environment as well as being able to work independently with attention to detail.
  • Ability to communicate, understand and follow in both verbal and written instructions.
  • Demonstrated ability to take guidance and direction from a supervisor.


Physical Requirements

The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job.
  • Able to communicate with others by email, telephone and in person.
  • Able to utilize a computer for word processing and email communication
  • Able to regularly lift and/or move up to 20 pounds, frequently lift and/or move up to 30 pounds and occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 pounds.
  • Ability to frequently talk, hear, walk, reach use hands and fingers to manipulate objects or controls, and sit as well as occasionally required to stand, climb or balance, stoop, kneel and crouch.
  • Vision abilities (with correction) include close, distance, peripheral, depth, and the ability to adjust focus.
  • Able to climb ladders, inclined walkways, access elevated platforms and to work at heights as well as work in tight quarters.

While performing the duties of this Job, the employee is regularly exposed to moving mechanical parts, fumes or airborne particles and outside weather conditions. The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate to loud. A variety of noise levels, adverse weather conditions, and complex job sites are to be expected daily.
