Position Overview

Responsible for ensuring the safe, efficient, and compliant movement of ready-mix trucks on-road and within plants and jobsites. Plays a key part in reducing job site hazards, preventing incidents, and supporting smooth operational flow by guiding drivers, monitoring truck activity, and enforcing company safety standards. In addition to on- job coordination, this position is responsible for developing and implementing Internal Traffic Control Plans(ITCPs) tailored to each project's unique layout and operational requirements.

Key Responsibilities (Essential Duties and Functions)

  • Communicates in a clear and consistent manner with high integrity
  • Identify hazardous conditions and take immediate action to mitigate risks.
  • Evaluates site access points, haul routes, pedestrian crossings, staging areas, and pour locations to design traffic control plans that protect workers, drivers, and the public. This includes setting up signage, barricades, and spotter operations.
  • Direct drivers and company resources in a manner that maximizes utilization and engagement
  • Analyzes and monitors the work quality, safety quality, and behavior of drivers. Recommend disciplinary actions to Plant Manager and/or Plant Supervisor when necessary
  • Assist in incident/accident investigation and reporting. Attend Incident reviews as required
  • Resolve transportation issues with urgency and professionalism
  • Organize and maintain all paperwork, data files and reports as required
  • Participate in quarterly reviews, assist in driver scoring consistent with the Pay for Performance Program (PPP)
  • Ensure that all DOT regulations are being followed. Must be familiar with the Federal Safety Measurement System. Responsible for compliance and knowledge with the Federal Motor Carrier Safety Administration (FMCSA) regulations and other safety standards.
  • Ensure that equipment maintenance and inspections are performed in a timely fashion.
  • Monitors and ensures that employees are performing their functions safely and efficiently. Make recommendations for changes or improvement, when necessary, in order to prevent accidents or injuries.
  • Reviews all company driver paperwork, including trip records, DOT logs, GPS and vehicle inspection reports
  • Performs ride along with drivers and documents the findings
  • Communication and management of contract drivers/owner operators
  • Leads weekly safety meetings with company and contract drivers.
  • Other duties assigned by Plant Manager and/or senior management


Qualifications

Knowledge/Skill Requirements
  • Strong written and oral communication skills, especially in training environments/sessions
  • Developed analytical and problem-solving abilities
  • Substantial interpersonal skills
  • Self-motivation and ability to work with minimal supervision
  • Priority emphasis and strong time management skills


Education/Experience
  • High School Diploma/ GED Equivalent required
  • Ready-Mix Driving Experience Preferred


Certifications
  • Standard drivers license required, Class B CDL preferred


Physical Requirements

  • While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to stand; sit; walk; use hands to finger, handle, or feel objects, tools, or controls; reach with hands and arms; and talk or hear. The employee is occasionally required to sit and stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl.
  • The employee may occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include distance vision, peripheral vision, and depth perception. Work may occasionally require working at heights.

Work Environment

  • While performing the duties of this job, the employee regularly works near moving mechanical parts and in outside weather conditions and is occasionally exposed to wet, humid condition airborne particles, and extreme heat or cold. The employee is occasionally exposed to vibration.
  • The noise level in the work environment is occasionally very loud and may require protective equipment.
