Position Summary:
Reporting to the Director of Quality for Ontario Materials, the Manager, Quality Control - Metro & East provides strategic leadership and technical expertise across our concrete and aggregate operations. This role leads a high‑performing technical services team, drives mix design optimization, and ensures our products consistently meet safety, quality, and performance expectations. You'll work closely with customers, operations, and commercial teams to support major infrastructure projects across the region.
Responsibilities:
- Lead the technical review of project specifications, identifying compliance requirements, material risks, and optimization opportunities
- Oversee the preparation, submission, and ongoing management of concrete mix designs to balance performance, cost, and constructability
- Drive product optimization through seasonal mix adjustments, raw material evaluation, and continuous performance monitoring
- Act as the senior technical authority for complex quality issues involving plastic and hardened concrete and aggregate performance
- Oversee CCIL aggregate lab operations and Concrete Ontario plant certifications to ensure strong compliance and audit readiness
- Serve as the primary technical contact for key customers, consultants, and agencies, supporting field performance and problem resolution Develop and deliver technical training for Customer Service, Sales, and field QC teams to strengthen product knowledge and consistency
- Lead, coach, and develop the Technical Services team, including KPIs, workforce planning, hiring, onboarding, and performance management
- Champion safety, quality, and integrity while leading quality management reviews and presenting insights and improvement actions to senior leadership
Requirements:
- University degree in Civil, Mechanical, or Chemical Engineering
- 5+ years of experience in concrete and or aggregate technical services, including leadership or people management
- P.Eng. designation or actively working toward certification preferred
- Strong knowledge of concrete materials, mix design, batching, and CSA, ASTM, and MTO standards
- Experience with QC and data systems such as SAP, MPAQ, Stonemont, or Tableau
- Strong communication skills with the ability to translate technical data into clear business and customer insights
- Valid Ontario G Driver's License and ability to travel to plant and job sites
