Position Overview

The Plant Operator will operate, assist in maintenance, and have overall responsibility of the primary aggregate plant in our quarry in Pittston PA.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

• Adhere to and follow all safety rules and regulations of MSHA/OSHA/DOT and Pennsy Supply, Inc.
• Conduct daily safety assignments (area inspections, pre-shifts, JSA's, TRACK, etc.)
• Perform pre-shift and workplace examinations to ensure safe working conditions. Informs the Supervisor of any questionable material being produced or any repairs affecting quality that may be needed. Directs material to stockpile.
• Operates PC to start and stop the primary control.
• Starts and stops crusher and feeder at appropriate times and observes movement of material into and through crusher.
• Maximize production of the primary products.
• Uses tools such as bars, sledgehammers, battery powered tools, ratchets, torque wrench, welder, oxy/fuel torch, etc., to relieve jams, and perform maintenance and repairs.
• Inspects equipment, makes repairs, lubricates plant, and operating adjustments as necessary.
• Guides and mentors the ground team to complete plant tasks (i.e. while plant is in operation, cleanup, greasing, belt tracking, organization). Trains others how to operate plant in safe and efficient manner.
• Reports need for repairs. Calls for additional help when needed.
• Coordinates truck dumping according to the status of the plant.
• Completes daily reports and charts as required and directed. Maintains records of crusher settings, plant inspections, and greasing logs.
• Inspects belt scale and cleans daily. Records and reports mechanical downtime, tonnage, and truck count through the plant.
• Communicates and works with pit loader operator to resolve issues in the pit and ensure uninterrupted efficient rate of material to plant.
• Maintains cleanliness of equipment and work areas. Keeps plant area neat and organized.
• Attend meetings as required or directed.
• Display a professional and courteous attitude to co-workers, supervisors, customers, and the general public always.
• Report to the assigned job site ready to begin work at the designated start time.
• Fill in as needed at any position in the quarry and asphalt operation.
• Other duties as assigned.

• Must submit to a drug screen and criminal background check.
• Able to work various times during day, night or weekend hours.

• High School Diploma or GED equivalent
• Strict adherence to the Pennsy Supply, Inc. Safety Manual.
• Strict adherence to the Pennsy Supply, Inc. policies and procedures as outlined in the employee handbook.
• Willingness to work in a team environment and assist co-workers or supervisors with other duties as assigned.
• 1-2 years experience in aggregate or industrial plants in operation and/or maintenance of plant.
• Computer experience helpful
