Position Overview
The Operations Support Manager position has responsibility for managing the supporting functions of the aggregates operations such as CapEx and large maintenance projects, performance improvement initiatives, inventory measuring and reporting, as well as direct oversight of the internal drilling team. Reporting to the General Manager - Aggregates, this position is based out of Harrisburg, PA.
Key Responsibilities (Essential Duties and Functions)
- Partnering with the Aggregates Operations Managers, provide operational support in the areas of safety, mine planning, process efficiency, quality and inventory management, capital expenditures, maintenance planning, and other ad hoc projects to support safe and efficient production
- Provide oversight and guidance of Drilling and Blasting activities to align with industry best practice, including direct management of internal drilling department safety and productivity.
- Track Key Performance Indicators (KPI's), identify performance improvement opportunities, quantify impacts, develop comprehensive action plans, solicit buy-in, budget and execute improvement projects.
- With project engineer/outside resources, accurately measure and report inventory levels to management including quarterly and year end inventories.
- Assist in developing budgets, track performance relative to budget, identify variances and opportunities to adjust to meet or exceed budget.
- With Operations Managers, assist in identifying, developing and executing on Capital Expenditure (CapEx) investment opportunities
- Partner with the local Environmental, Health, and Safety Manager to maintain a safe working environment meeting all company standards and external regulations. Drive and promote a culture of safety.
- Identify and develop talented individuals from all levels of your organization to build the team's capability and to strengthen the bench strength to fill key roles, both hourly and salaried. Evaluate performance of subordinates and provide coaching enabling achievement of their full potential.
- Support other lines of business (Hot-Mix Asphalt, Ready-Mix Concrete, Road Construction) as needed.
- Develop close working relationships with peers (Operations, Equipment, Safety, Human Resources, Environmental, Sales, Logistics, other lines of business) to create maximum value for the business
- Drive a culture of continuous improvement within the operations

Qualifications
To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily.
Education/Experience
- BS Degree and or High School diploma with five (5) or more years' experience in the industry
- 2-5 years of aggregates operations experience
- Experience managing CapEx projects
- Experience effectively managing and leading teams
- Experience identifying priorities, setting schedules and managing to deadlines
Knowledge/Skill Requirements
- Effectively manage multiple priorities, problem-solve, and work under pressure of deadlines and time constraints
- Ability to collect and interpret data, prepare and present to leadership.
- Knowledge and understanding of functional areas within aggregates operations
- Understanding of root-cause-analysis and ability to diagnose complex issues
- Ability to work with peers and influence others without direct lines of authority to achieve progress towards mutual goals.
- Excellent interpersonal skills including building rapport, listening, speaking, giving and receiving feedback.
- Exemplary oral/written communication skills.
- Energetic, forward-thinking and creative individual with high ethical standards and ability to present themselves professionally.
- Strategic visionary with sound technical skills, analytical ability, good judgment and strong operational focus.

General Requirements
- Must be 18 years in age or older.
