Position Overview
The Maintenance Foreperson supervises, coordinates, and actively participates in maintenance repairs performed by employees within the maintenance department. This individual is responsible for performing and maintaining positive employee relations and proper use of PPE pertaining to those tasks. Primary responsibilities also include maintaining OSHA, EPA, and the Department of Roads regulations pertaining to maintenance vehicles and equipment, and the safety of all employees under their supervision.
Key Responsibilities (Essential Duties and Functions)
- Oversee all maintenance personnel and repairs for multiple locations in adherence with all company policies and procedures. Drives a culture for work to be completed safely, responsibly, and cost efficiently.
- Works with Maintenance Manager, Operations Manager and Area Mangers to develop Cap Ex list and complete approved projects within budget.
- Maintains and reports weekly maintenance and project list, including crew placement to Maintenance Manager.
- Prepares and processes Purchase Orders and merchandise invoices used by the maintenance department in a timely manner to utilize purchase price discounts
- Works with Maintenance Manager, Operations Manager and Area Mangers to address safety concerns and employee relations issues within the maintenance department
- Develops and maintains preventative maintenance plan programs for production related equipment and facilities utilizing assistance from their maintenance team, purchasing team, management and others.
- Participate in creating a safe work environment, achieve safety goals, implement company safety programs, and comply with OSHA/MSHA/Company safety standards.
- Develop and maintain professional relationships with Area Managers, Plant Managers, Foreman, Maintenance Personnel, Safety Personnel, vendors and others.
- Properly follow all company policies and other procedures for safe working environment. Report any problems to the Area Manager, Superintendent, Safety Manager, or Human Resources.
- Maintain accurate inventory records and manage parts ordering, storage, and distribution to ensure operational efficiency and minimize downtime.
- Assists with other projects as assigned.

Education/Experience
- Associate degree in Electrical/Mechanical, Project Management or equivalent; and two to three years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
- Experience in the operation of concrete facilities or other directly related industry experience preferred.
Work Requirements
- Must be 18 years in age or older.
- Must pass drug screen and criminal background check.
- Must possess and maintain a valid driver's license and meet the company MVR requirements.
- Regular, on-time and consistent attendance is required and must be willing to work nights, weekends, and holidays when necessary.
- Strict adherence to safety requirements and procedures as outlined in the Employee and Safety Policy Manuals/Handbooks.
Knowledge/Skill Requirements
- Ability to cope well in stressful environments and communicate professionally.
- Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals.
- Demonstrated ability to train, motivate and lead employees.
- Demonstrate a hands-on, collaborative approach; work well in a team.
- Demonstrate a working knowledge of Microsoft suite of tools including Excel, Word and Outlook. Must be able to use the internet and other computer software effectively.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
- The ability to tactfully communicate information, ideas and directions in a manner that others will understand.
- Willingness and ability to work in and adapt to changes in circumstances, tasks, customer needs and other conditions that may affect their daily responsibilities.
- Ability to read and interpret blueprints, schematics, and diagrams.
- Ability to communicate, understand and follow in both verbal and written instructions.

- Able to communicate with others by email, telephone and in person.
- Able to utilize a computer for word processing, email communication, and preparation of documents and presentations.
- Able to regularly lift and/or move up to 20 pounds, frequently lift and/or move up to 30 pounds and occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 pounds.
- Ability to frequently talk, hear, walk, reach use hands and fingers to manipulate objects or controls, and sit as well as occasionally required to stand, climb or balance, stoop, kneel and crouch.
- Vision abilities (with correction) include close, distance, peripheral, depth, and the ability to adjust focus.
- Able to climb ladders, inclined walkways, access elevated platforms and to work at heights as well as work in tight quarters.
Work Environment
While performing the duties of this Job, the employee is occasionally exposed to moving mechanical parts, fumes or airborne particles and outside weather conditions. The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate to loud. A variety of noise levels, adverse weather conditions, and complex job sites are to be expected daily. Proper clothing, PPE (personal protective equipment), and safety precautions should be taken to ensure your safety, and the safety of others in all conditions.
