Job Summary

The Lab Assistant Intern will support laboratory operations focused on evaluating filtration media used in stormwater treatment systems. This role is ideal for an Engineering or Chemistry student seeking hands-on experience in applied testing, data analysis, and environmental performance evaluation.

This position is expected to start in person around May 2026 and continue through the entire summer term (i.e. May 2026 through August 2026). We ask for a minimum of 12 weeks, full-time, onsite for most internships.

Job Location

• This is an onsite position located in Mississauga, ON

Job Responsibilities

• Assist with laboratory testing of filtration media for stormwater applications
• Evaluate hydraulic performance and pollutant capture capacity of media materials
• Prepare test setups, monitor experiments, and record performance data
• Analyze results and support documentation of findings in Microsoft Office tools
• Maintain lab organization, safety protocols, and equipment readiness
• S upport engineers and technical staff with ongoing research and testing activities
• Other duties as assigned

Job Requirements

• Current 1st or 2nd year student pursuing a degree in Engineering, Chemistry, or a related technical field
• Strong critical thinking and problem-solving skills
• Effective time management with the ability to balance multiple tasks
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, PowerPoint preferred)
• Detail-oriented with an interest in laboratory testing and environmental systems
• Basic understanding of hydraulics, fluid flow, or filtration principles, preferred

Compensation

• The hourly pay rate is $25/hr
