PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES

This is a position involving the safe and efficient utility duties at Tilcon Connecticut's Hot Mix Asphalt (HMA) Plants and Stone Terminals. Tilcon has over 14 locations across Connecticut and candidates will be required to work as part of a two & three-man operation, teamwork and cooperation are essential. Plants produce HMA at night to supply paving operations, so candidates must be able to work nights.

PRINCIPLE ACCOUNTABILITIES

1. Safe and efficient maintenance and clean up duties at an HMA Plant and unloading of rail cars at Stone Terminals.

2. Display a professional and courteous attitude to co-workers, supervisors, and the general public at all times.

3. Compliance with company safety standards and related paperwork.

4. Report to assigned job site ready to begin work at the designated start time.

5. Ability to learn plant operations to fill in as plant operator when required.

6. Repair and maintenance of plant components.

7. Adherence to all applicable regulations affecting asphalt plant production, safety environmental, state, federal, and company policies; ensure observance of such regulations; and ensure compliance with all regulations and permit conditions

QUALIFICATIONS

1. Thorough understanding and compliance with company safety policies.

2. Plants operate at night for extended periods of time, must be able to work nights and weekends when necessary.

3. Willingness to work in a team environment and assist co-workers or supervisors with other duties as required.

4. Ability to follow verbal and written instructions.

5. Mechanical competence.

6. Capability to complete required paperwork in a timely fashion.

7. Aptitude and willingness to learn how to operate an HMA plant and fill in as plant operator at any given site safely.

PERSONAL PROTECTIVE EQUIPMENT

Employees are required to wear personal protective equipment in designated operations and construction areas as outlined by OSHA, MSHA, and state agencies. Protective equipment that may be required, but not limited to, for this position: Hardhat, safety glasses, face shield, welding helmet, reinforced toed shoes, hand protection, respirator, air monitor, reflective safety vest.

The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 75 pounds.

While performing the duties of this job, the employee regularly works near moving mechanical parts and is occasionally exposed to wet and/or humid conditions and heat. The employee frequently works outside and has exposure to some vibration.
