Position Overview
The Head of Technology Operations is a critical senior leadership role within CRH International's Technology function, reporting directly to the Chief Information Officer. This position is responsible for leading and transforming the technology infrastructure and operations across CRH's international operations, ensuring robust, secure, and scalable technology services that enable business growth and operational excellence.
This role oversees a substantial team of over 50 positions organised across four key domains: Technology Operations, Service Design & Engineering Architecture, IT Demand and Solutions, and Technology Driven Transformation. The successful candidate will be responsible for strategic planning, operational delivery, vendor management, and continuous improvement of all infrastructure and operational technology services.
The position offers significant growth opportunities, including the potential to shape CRH's technology strategy, drive digital transformation initiatives, and develop a high-performing global technology team. This role is pivotal in supporting CRH's position as a global leader in building materials solutions through world-class technology infrastructure and operations.

Key Tasks and Responsibilities
In this role, you will:
• Drive service adoption and commercial value across technology operations service lines, with a strong focus on business alignment, optimization and best in cost services
• Strong customer and business focus, with a proven track record of driving towards clear roadmaps and business benefits
• Lead and manage the Infrastructure & Operations function across four key domains: Technology Operations, Service Design & Engineering Architecture, IT Demand and Solutions, and Technology Driven Transformation
• Develop, evolve and execute the strategic roadmap for technology infrastructure, ensuring alignment with CRH International's business objectives and digital transformation goals
• Oversee the delivery of critical technology services including data centre & cloud operations, network & security, workplace & end user services, service desk/incident management, and collaboration platforms - working closely with multi-location teams to achieve joint success

Key Functional Competencies
You possess the following:
• Business, commercial and financial management acumen to ensure best in class value for standard technology services, along with central and federated models of service delivery
• Proven expertise in leading large-scale infrastructure and operations functions in complex, multi-national organisations
• Deep knowledge of enterprise technology infrastructure including cloud platforms (Azure, AWS), data centre operations, networking, and security
• Strong understanding of IT service management delivery and measurements of operational processes
• Demonstrated experience in business and technology transformation across federated technology environments
• Expertise in vendor and contract management, including negotiation of complex technology agreements and service level agreements
• Strong programme and project management capabilities, with experience delivering large-scale technology transformation initiatives
• Knowledge of cybersecurity principles, compliance requirements (GDPR, ISO 27001), and risk management frameworks
• Experience with modern workplace technologies, collaboration platforms (Microsoft 365, Teams), and end-user computing
• Understanding of DevOps, automation, and infrastructure-as-code principles and practices
• Excellent stakeholder management and influencing skills, able to work effectively with C-suite executives and business leaders
• Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities, with a data-driven approach to decision-making
• Change management expertise, able to lead organisational transformation and drive adoption of new technologies and processes

Experience / Education
You are/have:
• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Engineering, or related technical field; Master's degree or MBA preferred
• Minimum 15+ years of progressive experience in technology leadership roles, with at least 7-10 years in senior infrastructure and operations management positions
• Proven track record of leading large technology teams (50+ people) in complex, international organisations, preferably in manufacturing, industrial, or multi-site environments
• Extensive experience managing enterprise-scale infrastructure including cloud platforms, data centres, networks, security, and workplace technologies
• Demonstrated success in leading technology transformation programmes and driving operational improvements
• Experience working in a matrix organisation and collaborating across multiple business units and geographies
• Strong background in vendor management, including experience with major technology providers (Microsoft, SAP, ServiceNow, cloud providers)
• Professional certifications such as ITIL Expert/Master, TOGAF, CISSP, PMP, or relevant cloud certifications (Azure, AWS) are highly desirable
• Experience in the building materials, construction, manufacturing, or related industries is advantageous
• Fluency in English is essential; additional European languages are a plus
• Willingness to travel across European locations as required (approximately 25-30%)
