Position Overview

CRH are seeking a full-time grounds and landscape operative to ensure the grounds and external areas are maintained to a high standard. The Grounds Operative will carry out routine grounds maintenance, operate machinery, support horticultural tasks, and deliver an efficient and professional service across all outdoor spaces.

Key Tasks and Responsibilities
In this role, you will:

  • Maintain lawns and other grassed areas.
  • Carry out hedge trimming, edging, leaf blowing, and weed control.
  • Maintain hard landscaping including paths, car parks, fences, gates, and outdoor furniture.
  • Litter picking and waste management.
  • Salt spreading and snow clearing during winter months.
  • Assist with planting, watering, pruning, and basic horticultural tasks.
  • Support planting and seasonal maintenance of flower beds, shrubs, and borders.
  • Safely operate grounds maintenance equipment and power tools.
  • Carry out basic equipment checks and report faults promptly.
  • Ensure all tools and machinery are cleaned, stored, and maintained correctly.
  • Work in line with all safety procedures, risk assessments, and site rules.
  • Always use appropriate PPE.
  • Report hazards, defects, or incidents to the manager immediately.
  • Support site events or setup tasks when required.
  • Provide excellent service to staff and visitors.
  • Work flexibly across different sites if required.


Experience / Education
You are/have:
  • Experience in grounds maintenance, landscaping, or similar outdoor work.
  • Ability to operate grounds machinery (mowers, strimmers, blowers, etc.), tractors, trailers
  • Good understanding of health & safety and safe working practices.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Reliable, punctual, and safety conscious.
  • Full driving licence.
  • Machinery operation training is an advantage.
  • Basic horticultural knowledge (desirable).
  • Experience working on commercial or estate environments (desirable).
  • PA1/PA6 pesticide application cert (beneficial)
  • Manual handling (beneficial)
