Position Overview
This is a skilled position responsible for operating a variety of heavy equipment to safely and efficiently perform excavation, grading, material handling, and roadway construction activities while meeting production, quality, and safety objectives.

Key Responsibilities (Essential Duties and Functions)
- Operate heavy equipment such as loaders, excavators, dozers, motor graders, haul trucks, rollers, skid steers, and other construction equipment.
- Perform excavation, grading, backfilling, material placement, stockpiling, and site preparation activities.
- Load and transport materials safely and efficiently.
- Follow grade stakes, project plans, and supervisor instructions to meet project specifications.
- Conduct daily pre- and post-trip equipment inspections.
- Monitor equipment performance and report maintenance or repair needs promptly.
- Perform basic preventive maintenance and equipment servicing.
- Maintain a clean and safe work area around equipment and job sites.
- Work closely with supervisors, truck drivers, laborers, and other operators to achieve production goals.
- Follow all company safety policies, environmental requirements, and regulatory standards.
- Participate in safety meetings, training programs, and continuous improvement initiatives.
- Perform other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

Education and/or Experience
- High school diploma or GED preferred.
- Previous heavy equipment operating experience in construction, aggregates, paving, mining, or related industries preferred.
- Knowledge of safe equipment operating practices and job site safety requirements.
- Ability to read and understand basic construction plans, grades, and work instructions.
- Strong communication and teamwork skills.
- Ability to work independently with minimal supervision.
- Valid driver's license required; CDL preferred.

- Ability to sit, stand, walk, climb, bend, and kneel for extended periods.
- Ability to lift up to 50 pounds occasionally.
- Ability to work outdoors in varying weather conditions.
- Ability to work around heavy equipment, moving machinery, dust, noise, and uneven terrain.
- Must be able to safely enter and exit equipment multiple times throughout the shift.
