Position Overview
Join our team as a Driver Supervisor and play a pivotal role in championing safety and operational excellence across our transportation network. We're looking for a results-driven leader who is passionate about supporting drivers, implementing innovative safety programs, and fostering a culture of continuous improvement. In this dynamic position, you'll work both in the field and office, collaborating with drivers and management to elevate training, monitor qualifications, and enhance incident prevention strategies. Key Responsibilities
- Promote a Safety-First Culture: Inspire and uphold a safe working environment for all employees by partnering with safety and field personnel to minimize risks and maximize safety standards.
- Drive Operational Excellence: Lead the charge in improving operational performance, setting and exceeding company goals.
- Certification Management: Oversee driver certifications through the NRMCA portal, ensuring compliance and professional development.
- Performance Monitoring: Evaluate driver performance, including work quality, safety, attendance, and behavior, and provide coaching or discipline as needed.
- Incident Response: Assist with incident and accident reports, taking prompt action to resolve transportation issues with professionalism.
- Data & Compliance Maintenance: Organize and maintain driver qualification files, data records, and reports, while ensuring adherence to DOT regulations and safety standards.
- Field Engagement: Conduct ride-alongs, observe driver practices, and document findings to help prevent accidents and improve safety.
- Payroll & Administration: Summarize, enter, and request approval for payroll, PTO, and merit increases.
- Communication & Collaboration: Facilitate effective communication between dispatch and shop, leading weekly safety meetings for both company and lease drivers.
- Scheduling & Staffing: Work closely with Sales/Dispatch to optimize scheduling and staffing needs.
- Office & Field Management: Balance office duties and maximize time spent supporting drivers in the field.
- Additional Responsibilities: Take on other duties as assigned by Transportation Manager or senior management.
Work Requirements
- Demonstrated ability to perform essential job duties with excellence.
- Proficient in operating various ready-mix trucks.
- Ability to obtain and maintain DOT medical card.
- Flexibility to work nights, weekends, and travel as needed.
Knowledge & Skills
- Exceptional written and verbal communication skills, especially in training and coaching environments.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving mindset.
- Excellent interpersonal abilities for building relationships and fostering teamwork.
- Self-motivated with the ability to work independently.
- Effective prioritization and time management skills.
Education & Experience
- Bachelor's degree in a relevant field or equivalent safety/transportation industry experience preferred.
- Previous supervisory experience and leadership training are a plus.
- Valid CDL driver's license required.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite (Outlook, Excel, Word, PowerPoint).
Physical Requirements
- Ability to stand, sit, walk, use hands, reach, talk, and hear regularly.
- Occasional stooping, kneeling, crouching, or crawling; occasional lifting/moving up to 50 pounds.
- Vision requirements include distance, peripheral, and depth perception; occasional work at heights.
Work Environment
- Exposure to moving mechanical parts, outdoor weather conditions, wet/humid air, extreme temperatures, and vibration.
- Occasionally high noise levels requiring protective equipment.
