This role sits within our UK Wastewater Services business, which supports water utility companies with installation, refurbishment and engineering services across the UK.
🔧 About the Role
We're looking for an experienced, driven Contracts Manager to lead our Projects Team and oversee the delivery of engineering installation and refurbishment works across your designated region.
You'll take ownership of all assigned projects - planning, coordinating and managing teams of project and service engineers to deliver work safely, efficiently, on time, within budget and to the highest quality standards.
This role is central to building strong customer relationships, driving operational performance and ensuring commercial success.

⭐ What You'll Need (Skills, Competence & Qualifications)
Essential
- Engineering qualification (Degree/HND or equivalent) or substantial relevant experience
- Several years' experience working on industrial/mechanical/electrical engineering equipment
- Water industry or environmental engineering experience
- Proven experience managing engineering project teams
- SMSTS (Site Management Safety Training Scheme) minimum
- Knowledge of NEC3 contracts
- Strong project management background including planning, coordination, reporting
- Experience delivering engineering projects to tight deadlines
- Knowledge of mechanical installation, maintenance and commissioning
- Risk assessment experience
- Good computer skills (Microsoft Office, planning tools e.g., Gantt charts)
- Strong communication and customer service skills
- Ability to prioritise workloads for self and team
- Good business acumen and financial awareness
- Confined Spaces (City & Guilds)
- Manual Handling
- Understanding of wastewater screens and treatment processes
- Mechanical fitting experience
- Current valid driving licence
- Current passport
- Ability to work outdoors on wastewater sites
- Comfortable with physical work (standing, kneeling, crouching etc.)
- Occasional overnight stays
- Take ownership of all assigned projects and lead the Projects Team to deliver them effectively
- Manage and coordinate all activities within your Area of Responsibility
- Carry out site inspections and produce survey reports for quotations
- Ensure all projects are initiated, planned, executed, controlled and closed out using company systems
- Produce solutions and quotations, ensuring profitable outcomes while maintaining customer satisfaction
- Implement financial controls and provide job costings where required
- Lead on‑site staff with strict control of time, quality, safety and cost
- Produce detailed project reports, including Gantt charts, and present updates at operations meetings
- Liaise with other internal departments to support business objectives
- Develop strong customer relationships and identify opportunities to provide innovative solutions
- Ensure excellent communication and collaborative working across the wider business
- Be accountable for profit and loss of all assigned projects
