Position Summary:

The Purchaser is responsible for sourcing, negotiating, and procuring construction materials, supplies, and equipment to support production and project operations. This role ensures timely delivery of quality materials at competitive prices while maintaining strong supplier relationships and aligning with company cost, quality, and safety standards.

Wage Range: $24-$26/hour depending on experience.This position is regionally based and may be located at any of our operating sites.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Source, negotiate, and purchase construction materials, equipment, and supplies to meet project and production needs.
  • Evaluate vendor quotes and services to determine the most desirable suppliers in terms of quality, price, and delivery.
  • Develop and maintain relationships with vendors, subcontractors, and internal stakeholders.
  • Monitor inventory levels and coordinate with operations, production, and logistics teams to ensure adequate material availability.
  • Issue purchase orders, track shipments, and verify deliveries against purchase orders and invoices.
  • Review material usage, costs, and supplier performance to identify cost-saving opportunities.
  • Maintain accurate purchasing records, contracts, and documentation in accordance with company policies.
  • Collaborate with project managers, estimators, and plant managers to forecast material needs and optimize procurement schedules.
  • Ensure compliance with company procurement policies, safety standards, and sustainability initiatives.
  • Support continuous improvement in the procurement process, including supplier evaluations and new material testing when applicable.


Qualifications:

  • High School Diploma/GED (Bachelor's degree in Supply Chain Management, Business Administration, or related field preferred) or equivalent experience.
  • 2-5 years of purchasing or procurement experience, preferably in the construction materials, manufacturing, or industrial sectors.
  • Strong negotiation, communication, and analytical skills.
  • Working knowledge of construction materials, aggregates, concrete, asphalt, or related products.
  • Proficiency with purchasing or ERP systems (e.g., SAP, Oracle, Viewpoint, or similar).
  • Strong attention to detail and organizational skills.
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.
  • Valid driver's license (may require site visits or vendor meetings).
