A Chipper Operator is responsible for processing timber by operating, maintaining, and monitoring a woodchipper machine. This role ensures efficient production, inspects logs for quality, adheres to safety protocols, and performs routine maintenance. Key duties include feeding logs into the machine, managing output quality, and keeping the work area clear of debris.

Key Responsibilities

• Operate the chipper safely and efficiently to meet production requirements.
• Perform daily inspections and preventative maintenance, including safe loading procedures and monitoring output quality.
• Adhere to all company safety protocols, including proper PPE usage, ensuring machine guards are in place, and maintaining a clean and hazard‑free work area.
• Maintain documentation as required, including inspection logs and maintenance records.

Required Skills and Qualifications

• Proven experience operating heavy machinery or a woodchipper.
• Valid driver's license with a clean driving record.
• Basic understanding of hydraulics, mechanical systems, and troubleshooting techniques.
• Ability to perform manual labor, including lifting, bending, squatting, pushing, and pulling.
• Comfortable working in all weather conditions and around jobsite hazards such as moving machinery, airborne particles, and loud environments.
• Ability to work independently and collaboratively as part of a team.
• Strong communication skills with the ability to coordinate effectively with other operators and supervisors.

This position will come with a vehicle equipped with tools for equipment maintenance.
