Assistant Project Manager - Hydrometric Services
Theale, UK
Hydro International is seeking an Assistant Project Manager to join our Hydrometric Services team, based at our Theale office. This is an excellent opportunity for an ambitious professional looking to develop their project management experience while working on technically interesting and impactful environmental projects.
The Role
As an Assistant Project Manager, you will support and manage hydrometric projects from initiation through to delivery. The role includes involvement in work winning, client meetings, technical report writing, and quality assurance of hydrometric data prior to issue to clients. You will also contribute to the effective and profitable operation of Hydro International.
Key Responsibilities
- Assist with managing projects, ensuring delivery is safe, efficient, and meets time, budget, and quality requirements
- Complete management tasks and end‑of‑month reporting accurately and on time using internal systems
- Prepare stage‑discharge and velocity indexing rating reports
- Liaise regularly with data and field hydrometric managers to ensure projects and data are delivered in line with current priorities, including contributing to forward resource planning
- Write fee proposals, renewal proposals, and technical reports to Hydro International standards
- Support senior staff with the preparation of larger and more complex proposals
- Maintain regular contact with clients, providing updates on project progress
- Manage an allocated portion of the project portfolio in line with annual performance targets, including revenue and budget margin
- Ensure CE documentation is maintained and kept up to date
- Develop and maintain strong working relationships with existing clients, and support the development of new client relationships
- Ensure all deliverables meet client specifications as defined within Hydro International proposals and client work instructions
- Carry out duties in accordance with all relevant legislation, particularly the Health and Safety at Work Act, and apply the requirements of ISO 45001
- Apply the requirements of BS EN ISO 9001 and ISO 14001 within areas of responsibility
- Undertake any other reasonable duties as required by the company
Qualifications & Experience
- Degree in a relevant subject (e.g. Environmental Science, Geography, Engineering)
- Experience taking field measurements and processing hydrometric data
- Experience using a time‑series database
- Strong report and proposal writing skills
- Previous experience supporting or managing projects is advantageous
Essential Requirements
- Full UK driving licence
- Valid passport
