Position Overview
The Assistant Project Manager is an entry-level position supporting the management of civil construction projects. This role involves assisting with daily coordination of subcontractors and crews onsite, supporting project scheduling, and helping track equipment, labor, and overhead costs. The Assistant Project Manager works closely with senior project managers to ensure successful completion of projects awarded to the company.
Wage Range: $24-$28 per hour, dependent upon experience.

Key Responsibilities (Essential Duties and Functions)
- Assist in reviewing blueprints, specifications, and work orders under supervision.
- Support the preparation of preliminary schedules and planning approaches for projects.
- Participate in meetings with clients, vendors, and team members to help formulate schedules and resolve minor issues.
- Help maintain current and accurate information on job costs and pay quantities, as directed by the Project Manager.
- Assist with measuring, compiling quantities, and preparing pay estimates for projects.
- Participate in the bidding process as required, primarily in a support capacity.
- Assist with project scheduling and resource allocation under the guidance of the Project Manager.
- Review daily cost sheets for correctness and compliance, reporting discrepancies to management.
- Support job startup activities by reviewing project plans and specifications alongside the Project Manager and foreman.
- Provide feedback on job progress to estimating teams and assist with field measurements when requested.
- Help ensure foreman's job quantities are correct and submitted for invoicing.
- Projects may be remote; willingness to travel is required.
- Must be able to use a laptop computer, iPad, or similar device for job-related tasks.

Education/Experience
- High School diploma or general education degree (GED) required
- Bachelor's degree in civil engineering, construction management, or a related field preferred. Relevant coursework or internship experience will be considered.
- 1-2 years of civil construction experience preferred but not required. Equivalent education and experience will be accepted.
- Must be at least 18 years old
- Must pass pre-employment physical, drug screen and criminal background check.
- Report to the job site dressed appropriately and ready to begin work at the designated start time.
- Strict adherence to safety requirements and procedures as outlined in the Employee Handbook.
- Ability to read and comprehend instructions, short correspondence, and memos.
- Ability to write basic correspondence.
- Ability to effectively present information in one-on-one and small group situations to customers, clients, and other employees of the organization.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills.
- Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals.
- Ability to compute rate, ratio, percent, and interpret basic bar graphs.
- Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out detailed written or oral instructions.
- Ability to type and use keyboards accurately; basic knowledge of database software preferred.
