The Area Operations Manager will be responsible for overseeing the day-to-day operations of all HMA plants located in the San Antonio and South Texas business. The Operations Manager must also develop and maintain teamwork with internal and external stakeholders to ensure a productive outcome. The goal for this position is to create an environment of working teams and guiding these teams to be the best in the business.
Key Responsibilities (Essential Duties and Functions)
• Evaluate, Oversee, and Manage all aspects of Asphalt production and plant maintenance.
• Evaluate, monitor, and coach personnel supervised.
- Ensure all safety policies and procedures are followed.
• Direct work at plant locations and job sites.
• Maintain quality assurance of the plants as required.
• Establish and monitor routine plant maintenance schedules.
- Plan and budget for large Capital Expenditure items
• Control and manage expenditures to maximize profits for the plants and company.
- Oversee ordering and management of all inbound materials and inventory levels.
• Assist with accident and environmental investigation/compliance.
• Complete all paperwork and reports required by the company in a timely manner.
• Issue discipline as required.
• Review time cards and monitor attendance.
• Adhere to and positively communicate all company policies.
• Regular and predictable attendance at assigned times is required.
• Other duties as may be assigned.
Qualifications
Education/Experience
• Bachelor's degree (B.S. or B.E.) from a four-year college or university; or 10+ years of related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
• Leadership training and management experience preferred
- Valid state driver's license and a satisfactory driving record is required.
Knowledge/Skill Requirements
• Ability to communicate efficiently and effectively with customers and company personnel.
• Ability to supervise and control personnel to accommodate employee and customer satisfaction.
- Understanding of basic accounting principles.
• Ability to take initiative and be a problem solver.
• Ability to perform mathematical functions pertaining to billing, volumes, quantities, etc.
- Ability to use decision-making skills for cost-effective solutions daily.
- Be knowledgeable of the materials and equipment needed to perform tasks.
- Strong communication and leadership skills are necessary.
- Excellent skills with Microsoft Office and the ability to rapidly learn different software applications.
Work Requirements
• Must be 18 years in age or older.
• Must pass pre-employment physical, drug screen and criminal background check.
• Strict adherence to safety requirements and procedures as per company policy.
• Willingness to work in a team environment and assist co-workers or supervisors with other duties as required.
