As part of Coupa's AI Transformation initiative, we are looking to add a Front Deployed Engineer Developer. This individual will work directly with Solution Advisory, Value Advisory and Sales customer teams to work at the intersection of solving customer problems and producing technical solutions while leveraging AI technologies within Coupa. You'll partner directly with Solution Captains, AI Architects, Solution Advisory, Value Advisory along with enterprise customers to understand their operational pain points, and then translate those into technical requirements, and then build out AI based proof-of-concept solutions leveraging Coupa Compose/Agent Studio to allow the Solution Advisors to demonstrate your custom built AI Agents to showcase unique value to their prospect and/or customers.

As a Prototype Developer, you will sit at the intersection of cutting-edge AI technology and strategic sales. Your mission is to empower our Presales Solution Advisors by building high-impact, functional prototypes of AI Agents that solve complex business spend management challenges. Leveraging the Coupa Compose platform and Agent Studio, you will transform conceptual use cases into tangible demonstrations that prove the value of our Business Spend Management (BSM) ecosystem.

What You'll Do:

Own the design, build, test of AI Agents from scoping, coding, testing, deployment. You will work closely with our Sales and Services teams to ensure a complete knowledge transfer of your AI Agents to assist scoping out the implementation phase. You will work across the full Coupa platform of modules, and partner with the account team to help drive technical decisions that shape how the Coupa platform addresses spend management challenges.

1. Agent Design & Build Architect and develop intelligent agents using Coupa Agent Studio to automate complex workflows Utilize Coupa Compose to build solution proof-of-concepts using Coupa AI technologies. Apply prompt engineering and LLM orchestration logic to ensure agents are accurate, context-aware and performant.

2. Systems Integration & API Management Build and connect prototypes via MCP, A2A, BYOA to diverse systems and data sources including ERPs (SAP, Oracle, Servicenow, Netsuite...), middleware systems, and third-party data providers. Develop and maintain middleware/scripts to facilitate seamless data exchange via APIs and JSON/XML formats. Ensure bi-directional data integrity between the AI agents and the 3rd party environments.

3. Solution Advisor/Presales Collaboration Partner with Solution Advisors to translate "customer pain points" into technical requirements for rapid prototyping. Participate in discovery sessions to provide technical feasibility assessments for custom AI solutions Application Development and Prompt Engineering Proficiency in Modern Languages: Hands-on experience with Python and JavaScript Participate in dry-run and demonstration walk-thru reviewing your AI Agents

Additional Responsibilities:

• Rapid Prototyping: Ability to move from concept to functional demo in 3-5 business days while handling multiple concurrent opportunities at various stages. Systems Integration & APIs
• API Knowledge: experience consuming and designing RESTful APIs; proficiency with tools like Postman or Insomnia.
• AI & Agent Architecture:
  • LLM Knowledge: Understanding of LLM fundamentals (Tokenization, RAG - Retrieval Augmented Generation, and Context Windows).
  • Agentic Frameworks: Knowledge of how to build autonomous loops, tool-calling, and multi-agent orchestration
• Security & Compliance:
  • Auth Standards: Implementation experience with OAuth 2.0, SAML, and API Key management. Data Privacy: Familiarity with SOC2, GDPR, and "Secure by Design" principles

What You Will Bring to Coupa:

• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or Business Administration (or related)
• 4+ years of progressive experience in Software Engineering, with a focus on enterprise applications and application modernization, preferably within the technology or SAAS
• Full Stack Proficiency: Strong hands-on experience across the full application stack (front-end, back-end, database, infrastructure).
• Strong proficiency in one or more modern technology languages
• Spend Management industry experience Hands-on experience using AI related technologies
• Excellent written and verbal communication, organizational, and interpersonal skills
• Proven ability to manage multiple development projects concurrently
• Strong problem-solving skills
• Reliable, adaptable, and comfortable working in fast-paced, deadline-driven environments
• Strong relationship-building, influencing, and teamwork skills
• Experience with the Coupa platform, specifically the App Marketplace or Coupa App Studio
• Knowledge of using Coupa Compose, Agent Studio, Navi is an asset
