Summary:
The Patient Care Technician (PCT) provides direct patient care under the supervision of a Registered Nurse (RN) in a fast-paced, team-oriented environment. This role supports 24/7 patient admissions and discharges and contributes to safe, efficient unit operations.
Education:
High School diploma or equivalent required, plus one of the following:
- Completion of certified Nurse Assistant program or hold an active CNA.
- Completion of Medical Assistant program.
- Completion of first clinical semester in accredited nursing program with continued enrollment in nursing program.
- Completion and current certification of Emergency Medical Technician Program.
- Completion of Patient Care Technician training program.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
- • btain routine vital signs and promptly report abnormal values to the RN as necessary.
- Perform daily weights and accurate height and weight measurements.
- Conduct blood glucose monitoring per protocol.
- Remove peripheral IVs as ordered and within scope of practice.
- Accurately measure, record, and document intake and output in a timely manner.
- Assist with patient admissions and discharges, including room setup and breakdown.
- Maintain a clean, safe, and organized patient care environment
- Provide basic patient care and assist with activities of daily living as needed.
- Communicate effectively with the nursing team and interdisciplinary staff.
Additional Responsibilities:
- Cross-train to the Unit Secretary role, supporting clerical and communication functions
- Float to other areas of the hospital as needed to meet operational demands
- Adhere to hospital policies, safety standards, and infection prevention practices

Certification/Licensure:
- Current BLS
