Position Summary
The Viticulture Technician is responsible for supporting technical viticulture program within their assigned ranches and participating in the Technical Viticulture team efforts and projects within the company. Scouts for vineyard pest and diseases, conducts vineyard sampling and yield estimation activities, and reports on cultural operations to provide feedback to Operations and Technical Viticulture to ensure fruit consistently meets quality, quantity, and fiscal targets. Support relationships between Internal Vineyard Operations, Grower Relations, Winemaking, and other Constellation regional departments with a One-Team culture. Ensure technical viticulture policies, SOPs, and vineyard trials are executed to achieve a best-in-class winegrowing program within the region. Actively participate in continuing education opportunities on relevant topics such as sustainability, labor, economics, and pest management.
Responsibilities
Winegrape Quality Enhancement:
• Responsible for monitoring farm plan progress in the field and reporting on individual block performance and alerting leadership of issues.
• Create regular scouting reports for management to continually monitor farming practices throughout the season, including the monitoring of crop load and canopy management, phenology tracking, pest and disease management, fertilization, and irrigation.
• Responsible for the collection and organization of vineyard data.
• Ensure standardized viticulture record keeping practices are followed and executes viticulture data collection for internal vineyards.
• Lead all sampling efforts including tissue sampling, soil testing, yield estimates, long term block history, etc., across internal vineyards.
• Collect data for vineyard experiments to better improve the wine quality, sustainability, and/or economics of the grape supply.
• Perform any other duties as reasonably required, leveraging experience and expertise to support the overall success of the department.
Continuous Improvement:
• Contribute to a world class viticulture program within the region, improving standard operating procedures and existing processes.
• Support implementation of new technologies and work with Regional Viticulturist to trial and implement new practices, tools, and knowledge at the vineyard level.
• Participate in continuing education programs, meetings, and research within the wine industry and agricultural industry to enhance expertise.
• Supporting Lean, sustainability and compliance programs.
Leadership:
• Support the technical viticulture development and continuing education of interns, operators, and seasonal samplers.
• Demonstrate exceptional leadership by modeling company values and behaviors and expecting others to do the same and aligning efforts to the company's strategic imperatives.
• Represent Constellation Brands in regional and industry groups, presenting a professional, positive presence.
EHS & ESG:
• Champion sustainable winegrowing practices and facilitate certification and compliance practices are applied in accordance with Constellation's sustainable grape sourcing policies.
• Set an example of safety and ensure that the team operates safely and meets all safety training requirements.
Minimum Qualifications
• AA or higher degree.
• Extensive technical viticulture knowledge.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office products and the ability to learn to use specific software as needed.
• Must have valid driver's license with clean driving record.
Preferred Qualifications
• B.S. in Viticulture, Agriculture, or another related field.
• Experience with GIS systems.
• PCA and/or QAL license holder.
• CCA license holder.
• Bilingual-English/Spanish.
• Eagerness to learn and work collaboratively within a team environment.
• Confident communication and interpersonal skills, ability to follow instructions and ask questions when needed.
• Basic organizational skills, ability to prioritize tasks and manage time effectively.
• Ability to maintain accurate records and follow established procedures.
• Enthusiastic attitude, willingness to take on new tasks and learn from experiences.
• Positive attitude and willingness to build relationships with colleagues, ability to collaborate effectively on projects and tasks.
Physical Requirements/Work Environment
• Works outdoors/indoors.
• Works in warm/cold climates.
• Works in high places.
• Works on wet surfaces.
• Is exposed to loud noise, fumes and/or toxic chemicals.
• Works near moving, mechanical parts and lift truck traffic.
• Must be able to move up to 55lbs.
• Ability to lift 45 lbs. on an occasional basis.
• Ability to walk 2-3 miles per day over uneven dirt surfaces in the vineyard.
• Primary office environment may be warehouse/distribution setting.
• Must be at least 21 years of age.
• Must be able to sit and/or stand for long periods of time and work on a computer for extended periods. Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform the essential functions.

The salary range for this role is:
$22.41 - $35.06
This is the lowest to highest salary we in good faith believe we would pay for this role at the time of this posting. Our compensation is based on cost of labor. For remote locations or positions open to multiple locations, the pay range may reflect several US geographic markets, including the lowest geographic market minimum to the highest geographic market maximum. We may ultimately pay more or less than the posted range, and the range may be modified in the future. An employee's pay position within the salary range will be based on several factors including, but not limited to, the prevailing minimum wage for the location, relevant education, qualifications, certifications, experience, skills, seniority, geographic location, performance, shift, travel requirements, sales or revenue-based metrics, any collective bargaining agreements, and business or organizational needs. At Constellation Brands, it is not typical for an individual to be hired at the high end of the range for their role, and compensation decisions are dependent upon the facts and circumstances of each position and candidate.
