Paper Scrip/ Verifications Officer
JOB DESCRIPTION
Location: Johannesburg (Hybrid)

The Paper Scrip/verification team is responsible for all paper script settlements and all account verification for the various brokers daily. Receiving certificate and forward to the respective Transfer Secretaries to move the shares electronically into the Brokers Nominees. Removal of electronic shares from the respective Transfer Secretaries and transfer to the clients account held with the Broker. Removal of brokers client shares from different registers. Monthly balancing of paper shares held with Computershare Outsourcing (vault) if needed.

The role will operate within defined technical and operational procedures, which require proficient knowledge and awareness on how to apply them.

Some of your key responsibilities will include:
- Coordinate with transfer secretaries to ensure clients receive entitlements, complete CM42 registration, validate certificate delivery, and update BDA entries. For DEMATS/REMATS, liaise with the broker's CSDP to handle share dematerialization and rematerialization requests.
- Liaise and deal with the transfer secretaries and broker to receive, complete and submit the lost share indemnity forms.
- Liaise and deal with the transfer secretaries and broker to receive, complete and submit the upliftment forms on BDA.
- Do verifications on BDA of all new client loadings/changes to static details against client mandates/broker instructions within the required timelines as set out in the SLA with the broker.
- Prepare monthly balancing of physical locations to the POPLOC/LOCSC reports
What will you bring to the role
You will need to have a good understanding of how the market operates under the verification banner, including settlements of paper and electronic shares. High attention to detail and some evaluative judgment based on best practice and previous experience. Well-developed communication skills to be able to provide clear verbal and/or written communications in response to client queries.
Other key skills and qualifications required for the role include:
- Grade 12 certificate (Essential)
- BDA Experience (Essential)
- Diploma or Degree in Business Management, Business Administration or an equivalent qualification (advantageous).
- Knowledge of Financial Services Industry
- Experience Equity Settlement
- Corporate actions knowledge
- Knowledge of FICA requirements
