A role you will love

The Automation Engineer works closely with the QA technical lead -to design, build and enhance our test automation frameworks and capabilities, ensuring that automated test solutions are successful in improving quality and testing efficiencies.

The role supports the up-lift of test automation capabilities in the scrum teams through technical guidance, education and mentoring. As such the role will aid in the coaching and mentoring of peers and teams, to enable them to contribute to the automated test effort and support their professional development.

Other key responsibilities:

  • Implement, maintain and enhance our test automation frameworks with technical support and direction from the QA technical lead.
  • Collaborate with the QA technical lead and the delivery teams to define test automation strategies and solutions.
  • Communicate the effectiveness of automated test solutions using meaningful metrics.
  • Participate in working groups and communities, sharing knowledge and ideas to support continuous improvement across the department.
  • Research emerging technologies/practices and propose improvements and innovations that would benefit the business.

What will you bring to the role?

The Automation Engineer requires experience working on scalable and maintainable test automation frameworks and solutions, with hands on experience in Selenium WebDriver, Mobile automation, Cucumber and have strong Java programming skills.

Proven experience of Agile and DevOps, with a working knowledge of practices such as test-driven and business-driven development (TDD/BDD). You will also be proficient in continuous integration and continuous delivery, as well as having a good understanding of test environments, quality gateways, the route to production and the software development lifecycle.

The role holder should be highly motivated and pragmatic with attention to detail, recognizes problems and responds, systematically gathers information, sorts through complex issues, seeks input from others, addresses root cause of issues, seeks out consensus, communicates decisions to others

Other key skills required for the role:

  • A working knowledge of Maven, Test NG and Jenkins is preferred.
  • Prior experience of Financial Services specifically within the Employee Plans domain would be advantageous.
  • Strong training, coaching & mentoring skills in order to support the QA Technical Lead in coaching teams/peers on test automation techniques and implementations.
  • Collaborative and communicate well, challenge effectively and respond well to challenge from others with good listening skills.
  • Preferred certifications - ISTQB Test Automation Engineer or similar/ISTQB Foundation Level Agile Tester\Certified Agile Tester (CAT) or similar.
  • AI prompting for automated efficiencies would be beneficial.
