Job Summary

The Technical Writer / Advisor, Service Excellence works in close partnership with HR Partners to translate complex or technical HR information into clear, employee-friendly content while maintaining accuracy and alignment with organizational standards. The role is responsible for producing and translating high-quality HR documentation in both English and French, including job descriptions, knowledge articles, and other HR materials. This function ensures that HR content remains accurate, consistent, and easy to understand, supporting effective communication across the organization.
Please note that this is a 6 months contract.


Main Responsibilities

Job Description Development & Translation

• Draft, edit, and standardize job descriptions in collaboration with HR Partners and business leaders.
• Ensure job descriptions comply with job architecture, competency frameworks, and organizational guidelines.
• Maintain consistency in structure, language, and terminology across roles and functions.
• Translate job descriptions (English and French), ensuring bilingual versions remain aligned, current, and consistently published across HR platforms and repositories.

Knowledge Articles & HR Documentation (Bilingual)

• Collaborate with HR teams to develop and translate knowledge articles using established templates.
• Translate complex or technical HR concepts into employee-friendly content while preserving accuracy and intent.
• Ensure all bilingual HR documentation is up to date, aligned, and consistently published across HR platforms and repositories.

Content Governance, Quality & Continuous Improvement

• Apply documentation, translation, formatting, and quality standards to all HR written materials.
• Conduct quality assurance reviews to ensure clarity, alignment, and consistency between English and French content.
• Identify content gaps, redundancies, and improvement opportunities to enhance usability and employee experience.
• Support continuous improvement of HR documentation processes, templates, and standards.

Working Conditions

The role has standard working conditions in an office environment with a regular workweek from Monday to Friday and is eligible to participate in CN's hybrid work policy. Due to the nature of the role, the incumbent must be able to meet tight deadlines, handle pressure, and stress.

Requirements

Experience

Human Resources
• Between 3 to 5 years of experience in HR and technical writing.

Education/Certification/Designation

• Bachelor's degree in Business Administration, Human Resources, Communications, or a related field, and/or equivalent work experience.
Any background for these above would be considered as an asset

Technical Skills/Knowledge

• Excellent word processing skills with experience in document formatting and layout.
• Outstanding communication skills, both written and verbal, to convey technical information clearly
• Fluently bilingual, both written and verbal (English, French)
• Exceptional proofreading skills with a keen eye for detail.
• Quality decision making and sound judgement
• Strong research abilities to gather information from various sources effectively.
• Self-driven with the ability to work both independently and as part of a team
