Job Summary
The Senior Analyst, Intermodal Systems and Processes is responsible for enabling data-driven decision making by creating actionable metrics and developing insights via data mining and analytics. The role provides expertise that identifies and defines opportunities to improve Intermodal (IM) Operations' practices and efficiencies, forecast the need for Intermodal equipment, and assist Intermodal's product enhancement initiatives.
Main Responsibilities
Process Analysis, and Evaluation - 50%
• Identify trends and recommend process improvements based on the analysis of operating metrics and an understanding of the industry
• Identify opportunities to reduce costs through automation, such as reducing clerical workload through automated gates
• Develop and use models and marketing forecasts to evaluate the need for capacity and assets and recommend solutions
Data Analytics and Modelling - 50%
• Develop new business insights through data science and analytics
• Work with external vendors and Information and Technology (I&T) counterparts to develop analytics capabilities with key systems and analytics tools
• Gather, interpret, and resolve reliability of information and metrics to support IM Operations' short-, medium-, and long-term decision-making processes
• Identify, define, and develop opportunities to improve IM Operations' practices and efficiencies through systems and processes
Working Conditions
The role is performed in a combination of office and outdoor environment with a regular workweek from Monday to Friday. Due to the nature of the role, the incumbent must be able to meet tight deadlines, handle pressure, and stress. The role requires minimal travel (15%) to various terminals in Canada and the United States (U.S.).
Requirements
Experience
Data Design and Analytics
• Minimum 3 years of experience in data design and analytics
Education/Certification/Designation
• Bachelor's Degree in Engineering, Data Analytics, Supply Chain or Computer Science

Technical Skills/Knowledge
• Knowledge of CN's systems and I&T concepts
• Subject matter expertise in Machine Learning, Artificial Intelligence, Cloud Based Solutions, and Data Science
• Proficiency with data analysis tools such as Tableau, Power BI, Business Objects, Systems, Applications and Products (SAP) Business Warehouse (BW)
• Knowledge of railroad operations and railroad engineering
