Hiring Salary Range : $ 100,000.00 - 110,000.00

This range represents the hiring range. Salaries are determined individually depending on skills and experience. You will also be eligible to an annual bonus, employee share investment program (ESIP), Pension, Benefits, Railroad Retirement Benefits (RRB) and other perks.

Job Summary

The Officer Training and Development - Transportation US is responsible for acting as a safety leader to ensure employees are trained to perform within regulatory standards. The incumbent is also accountable for ensuring the safety and efficiency of customers' goods deliveries. The role requires carrying out ongoing employee training and development in order to maximize knowledge transfer and employee performance.

Main Responsibilities


Training and Development

• Train Transportation employees on operating rules and instructions, job tasks, and safe work procedures, with a focus on hazard awareness and exposure reduction
• Instruct, mentor, and coach employees on various topics such as United States Operating Rules (USOR), CN's Life Book, safe work procedures, and life critical rule understanding and application
• Evaluate employee progress and ensure compliance with regulations, company policies, and standards
• Maintain training facility equipment, job aids, and schedule maintenance records
• Complete performance and qualifying documents as well as ensure all training events are captured in the Learning Management System (LMS)
• Maintain a comprehensive training plan and schedule to meet client expectations
• Support training material development by working with the Training Analyst
• Support the development of Transportation employees through regular field mentoring
• Participate in field audits and safety observations


Working Conditions


The role has standard working conditions in an office environment with a regular workweek from Monday to Friday. The incumbent must be available to work shifts and weekends when necessary. The role requires significant travel (over 50%) to deliver trainings.


Requirements


Experience

Railway
• Minimum 5 years of railway experience
o Experience working as a Conductor, Locomotive Engineer, Rail Traffic Controller or a combination of the above


Education/Certification/Designation


• High School Diploma
• Valid Driver's License
• Successful completion of CN's medical assessment

• Follows safety procedures, information security instructions and Environmental, Social and Governance (ESG) principles to lead by example
• Builds and maintains an internal network to support a better overall work experience
• Inspires others with impactful communications and adapts to the audience
• Applies analytical thinking to make recommendations that pursue sustainable performance
• Share timely information within and across functions to get things done effectively
• Improve processes on a continuous basis to enhance safety, security and to reduce CN's environmental footprint
• Leverages feedback and coaching to improve performance
• Change management


Technical Skills/Knowledge


• Ability to use technology in a creative manner
• Strong knowledge of transportation and field operations
• Advanced knowledge of Microsoft Suite (Excel, PowerPoint, Word)
• Proficient in internal applications such as Systems Applications and Products (SAP)
