Job Summary
The Marine Second Engineer reports to the Chief Engineer and participates in the operation of the vessel George-Alexandre Lebel, mainly by operating, maintaining, and repairing the machinery and equipment in the engine room. In addition, the position complies with the standards and procedures of CN's safety systems. Furthermore, the role performs other related tasks that may fall within the scope of the job.

Major Responsibilities
• Perform daily inspection on all machinery and navigation system
• Make needed repairs on machinery
• Maintain logbook and documentation regarding the engine room and machinery
• Make sure the instructions from the Mechanical Chief are followed
Working Conditions
• The role has a standard workweek from Monday to Friday
• The role must be available to work a 40-hour week with occasional overtime
• Weekend work is required occasionally
Requirements
• College Diploma (DEC) in Marine Mechanical Engineering or equivalent
• Marine Engineer 2nd Class certificate issued by Transport Canada
• Valid Transport Canada medical examination certificate
• Interpersonal and organizational communications
• Cognitive, problem-solving, teamwork and technical skills
• Thoroughness and cleanliness with health and safety awareness
• Minimum 1 year of relevant experience
• Knowledge of English at a functional level
Any experience/education/skills/knowledge for these above would be considered as an asset
Training
The role is required to attend internal training to learn how CN's operations work and the Company's policies and procedures.
