Intern, Bridge Assessment Engineer
This is a full-time summer internship lasting from May 11,2026, until August 28, 2026.
Job Summary
The Intern, Bridge Assessment Engineer is responsiblefor providing support to the functions of the Bridge Assessment Group. Theposition may include compiling, reviewing, analyzing, and presenting railwaybridge assessments and railway bridge testing findings. Additionally, theincumbent is expected to provide organizational support, digitally andphysically, to assist with optimizing the efficiency of the Bridge Assessmentfunctions. Such activities will involvetime management, organizational and computer literacy skills.
Major Responsibilities
- Assist with reviewing and compiling bridge assessment records to identify bridge priorities for assessments and heavy class locomotives restriction requirements
- Assist with compiling drawings in central repository for past completed projects
- Assist with monitoring, downloading, and synthesizing remote monitoring cloud data
Requirements
- Proficient in Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, PowerPoint, Access, Project)
- Knowledge of specific software: AutoCAD, SAP2000, CSI Bridge, MathCad Prime or SMath Studio
- Knowledge of programming, Python, Structures Query Language (SQL)
- Knowledge of big data manipulation such as Tableau, Power BI
- Professionalism, self-starter, and ability to work alone as well as in group environment
Education
- Civil Engineering foundation courses such as Statics, Strength of Materials, Structural Analysis, Steel and Concrete Design and Engineering Drafting
- Working towards a Bachelor's Degree in Civil Engineering (minimum 3 years completed) with a Major in Structures
